How to add street appeal to our house paint color? New shutters/screen

Hello, we have finally brought our new home. But we do not like the color or the street appeal. We are so excited as a few of the houses we had contracts on fell through - but this one is it. Any ideas would be so greatly appreciated.

The facade is very washed out. Is there an opportunity to paint the window frames darker? I like the simplicity. I would replace all the landscaping on the right- the small bushes in a sea of mulch look uninspired.

What is that on the top of the windows ? A picture that can be enlarged is always a good start. Where are you ? What styles of home do you like? What type of gardener are you? I like the house but not the raggedy landscaping but I need info.Is this the same house you posted before but from a different side ? Definately NO shutters

Congrats on the house! i would address the landscaping - it has a very high ROI. you can have a local pro draw up a plan and then install as it makes sense

If windows are older/not energy efficient, consider replacing with black (and no shutters). Suggest painting house a warm white and add boulders/height to help fill in the mulched area. Enjoy your new home!

What a cool house! i love this look. i agree landscaping on the right could make a huge difference. i would splurge on some mature cacti and play into the modern vibe of the home.

I agree with Beverly. The house is gorgeous. Add a bit of color with some potted plants, and add some more interest to the yard on the right, since it looks a bit sparse and leave it alone. It is perfect for its location.

Beverly I tried to find listing photos- that makes such a difference. I still think the number one improvement is landscaping, the house makes even more sense now.

Unless the house NEEDS a paint job, I would live with this color and put my funds towards the landscaping. Can you tell us what you’re thinking in terms of house color? We all like it, but we don’t own it.

@RedRyder, regarding color I was thinking an off white with a contrast color on the shades. But not sure at all about what would work for it, I have never been good at visualizing this. The shades by the way are needed due to the sun as others have identified. The house has not been painted for over 10 years and while is still satisfactory condition, best to do while I can afford it to paint now. I really like the ideas others have suggested re the landscaping on the right hand side and will for sure look into this. Thanks heaps for your input

    Or with modern vibe

@Celery. Visualization, Rendering images thanks so so much fo the visual pics of wht the colour would be like. I love both, but think as you say for QLD Australia he off white might be better suited to our climate. Can I ask would you paint the shades covering the windows in a contrasting color or keep to the differtent white color. Much appreciate your time..

MY brother and SIL live in Aus I turned them on to solar shades for the north facing windows and they love them. As for the rest of the house I like it as it is but yes to landscaping. I might look at some Corten steel planters too for a bit of contrast along with native plants and large boulders

@Patricia Colwell Consulting thanks so much for these suggestions. I do like the idea of the Corten steel planters with native plants and large boulders. What shape planter box's do you suggest?

The example from Celery shows you how a soft creamy color will work. Bright white might be too much. Look at ivories with a yellow undertone.

Congratulations, looks like a great house! Just an aside, it’s interesting that homes outside of the U.S. often have water closets without connection to the bathroom. Would not be done here.
