How do you see using what looks to be a 3 season porch? I find most porches (and there’s a lot in my neighbourhood) give the best vibe with table lamps or floor lamps

for a softer glow. Ceiling lights can be quite harsh.

Hi, it’s actually all season bc will have mini split for heat/cooling. Def will do lamps but need good overhead lighting too for homework, reading, etc.

there are a variety of recessed, can, pock, disk lighting available, is this a DIY or do you have an electrician, ask them. Homework and reading as best done with task lights, not overhead.

Have you considered sconce lights... there are many flush mount sconces,UP/Down options even on Amazon.com

Electrician will install. Tiny house so limited wall space for sconces. Agree re task/ambient lighting from lamps. Thinking about gimbal recessed on the slanted art of ceiling. Any suggestions for warm:diffuse recessed lighting?

This should have ALL BEEN SELECTED, DESIGNED AND LOCATED BEFORE THE CEILING WAS INSTALLED!

If you want something like this fixture which get VERY HOT you need space above the ceiling to accommodate the housing. You have to order 2 items, the housing and the trim ring/gimbel.

DO YOU HAVE 5 1/2" ABOVE THE CEILING to accommodate this housing???

I like to use what my contractor calls "LED retrofits" -- which is to say they're like replacements for can lights, but you don't need the can. With this being a porch roof, you may not have the space available to sink actual cans up into the ceiling, but the retrofits tend to give good light in all directions, rather than a gimbel, which points in one way only.

IMO now you need to do surfaces mount LED discs they give good light and many are adjustable for the right K value. I agree not sure you have space for the proper housing and this really should have all been planned before the ceiling went it. The discs take up no noticable height . The rest of the lightin IMO should all be more lamps

Furnishing sizes will be critical to make any arrangement work. I also agree that wall sconces with cords might be your best direction for this room.

A gimbal "diffuses" light just like all recessed lights do, and regardless of housing or lack of housing. It is merely adjustable when used in a sloped ceiling so it can point straight down to limit glare.
