Pop up Receptacle in Counter Next to Gas Range

I would like to put a pop up receptacle (GFCI rated) in the middle and at the half way mark of my island counter top. This would put the center of the receptacle approximately 9 1/2" diagonally from the corner of the gas range or 14" from the center of a burner near that corner.

I cannot find anything in the Florida building code that tells me if that is permitted and my electrician has not responded.

What would meet code?

I have never heard of, nor can I find, any rule that receptacles have to be a minimum distance from a range or range top. This question gets asked in electrical and contracting forums and the consistent answer is that there is no minimum distance.

What's the purpose of the pop-up receptacle in that location? Wouldn't the ends of the island be better? How deep is the island? Is there seating close to where you're planning these receptacles?

(A better location for the range would be against the wall, not in a wide open space like an island (or peninsula).)

Ugh, don't do it. Just add a spacer on either end with outlets ( this pic only shows one end, but they're on both).

Avoid the island range is the first thing to do here. It costs more, functions worse, and is not the safest option.
