Is AutoFlush worth it or annoying on the Toto S7 Washlet Seat?

I am planning to purchase either the Toto Carlyle II 1.28 gpf or Toto Nexus 1.28 gpf with the S7 Washlet Seat. The auto flush feature (Part# THU857) on the Washlet is an extra $100 option. This is for an upstairs, secondary, hall bathroom remodel.

I think I would be annoyed by the automatic open/close lid offered on the S7A Washlet Seat. I am uncertain about the auto flush. Is it a convenience? or annoying?

I have a bidet/toilet with an auto flush, it’s not Toto though. The feature is nice, I like it fine... but I could also easily do without it. (And without giving TMI, sometimes a person wants to inspect the contents without fear of it flushing too quickly) Mine is in our master suite. We have 2 other toilets in the house that are ready for the same kind of toilet (the power outlet is there) but we still just have regular toilets there. I’ve been hesitant to put a toilet that “looks” complicated in any of our bathrooms that guests would use. I know I was a little intimidated by any bidet toilet initially, LOL! I know, on mine, the button to flush it (the non-auto flush) would take some figuring out if I were just using it for the first time. As a guest in someone’s home, if I was unfamiliar with it, I might have a little moment of panic. It would remind me of the time I went to India. I was in a private home and they had a western style toilet and I was so excited, and then I realized there was no handle to flush it... of course I realized that afterwards. Anyways, after much deliberation I finally fetched the host and quietly asked for help. They had a bucket of water they used to flush it. I was so embarrassed. Maybe I have “issues”. Hahahahahaha!

Do you have children who would forget to flush the toilet?

My daughter got the Nexus and did not get autoclose. Her toilet is near the doorway and she was worried walking by might cause it to open all the time.

She is fine without it.

No problem with anyone forgetting to flush. I am thinking that it is intended for hygiene (don't need to touch the lever) or maybe for users with mobility issues.

I'm not getting the auto open/close feature -- it would be an upgrade from the S7 to the pricier Toto S7A washlet. The toilet is not near the hallway, but the bathroom is just too small to keep the lid from opening when walking into the bathroom and washing hands at the sink.

Yeah, I'm not seeing it as a hygiene issue... presumably your hands could have cooties on them until you wash them. The auto flushing just seems gimmicky and something else to break.

Another thing to break. And, yes you may have germs on your hands from flushing but I hope you are washing after you go to the bathroom anyway.

Our washlet has the autoclose feature, it was easy to disable. No idea what model it is, it's beem there for a long time now. The autoclose was incredibly irritating. It still does a lot of other automated things in the middle of the night that I wish it wouldn't, but DW loves it so it's staying.
