Those are odd! The only thing can thing of is to put something in front of the most obnoxiously placed ones- like a small table with a small lamp. Since it is a rental I can't think of anything else - it doesn't look like the light's covers are separate or removable.

And some of them are crooked

We had those low down on our stair walls in a previous home. Really useful there- light right where you need it to prevent stair accidents. But a bit bizarre at that height in a living room. If there's enough slack, the wiring could be pulled higher for a sconce?

I don't really know what to suggest at that height on the wall especially that it's in a rental where you don't want to spend any money.

Can the drapes be pulled over it?

Yet another “What were they thinking?” moment.

It's a rental. I'd live with it as it.

There isn't much your daughter can do to change the appearance of the wall lights inexpensively in a rental. If they are overly bright spots of light on the walls, perhaps a dimmer switch could be added to mute the light.

Hard to tell the height but maybe just longer pieces of art to cover them and never turn them on . People do weirs things this is just one of those . Maybe some you can just out stuff in front of them like a toy box type shelf for instance

Turning them off is a good idea but for this particular location maybe a plant on a stand could work.

There are 6 lights. She can't place plants everywhere.

Of course she cannot place plants everywhere but she only shows 1 location and I did mention for this specific location. The best solution so far I think is to simply turn-off those lights.
