Floof: What are you watching?
I've just watched my way through the series 'The Tudors' on Amazon. Equal parts of intrigue and sex ( just like modern times, no?). Today also on Amazon, the perfect palate cleanser, 'My Lady Jane'. What about you, what are you watching?

Many people have liked A Man on the Inside but I didn't care for it. Right now I'm watching The Handmaid's Tale. I started it a few years ago and stopped because it was too depressing, but now I'm into it. It's beginning to mirror real-life right about now. I want to see how it ends.

We're moving on to the second season of SiLK on BritBox. 2011 three seasons 4Stars. Barristers in London compete to become QC level. I think every British actor you've ever seen is in this -- and they're all excellent. I love the architecture and gardens, and quirky names. (Chambers are in Shoe Lane.)

DH is watching Roots and I was home to join him for Episode 3. I forgot what a fine series that was. And it brought back memories of the entire dorm gathering in the ”parlor” to watch the original airing.
We started watching The Sticky. The true story is so amazing, but despite the good cast we just couldn’t ”stick” with it.
Kitchenwitch, we watched Handmaid’s Tale but after its long break we thought we would need to see at least the previous season to feel caught up, and we just didn’t want to. Too many other new shows to try.
There was a British series I saw, somewhere, a couple of years ago, Mrs Sudhu Investigates. That was a lot of fun, I’ll have to see if there’s a new season.

We watched some of The Are Murders. We rarely watch murder mysteries but the Swedish setting adds diversion.
We also recently landed on Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, maybe on Kanopy. Still great.
On the other hand, An Affair to Remember with Deborah Kerr and Cary Grant looks sociologically backwards; some unfortunate comedy choices.

I highly recommend 'Our Oceans' on Netflix. 5 episodes, each covering a different ocean. Narrated by B. Obama. My DH and I were amazed by the photography.

I've started watching Black Doves on Netflix and am enjoying it so far.
I'm looking forward to the next seasons of 1923 (Paramount+) and Wednesday (Netflix) and White Lotus (HBO). The last might be out, but I'm not sure. I haven't had as much time to watch shows lately. - 12 months ago
A slight non-sequitur, but I loved Complete Unknown even though I never liked Dylan. It's a little bit like my comment about Kendrick Lamar; Dylan's work was not immediately appealing to me, but I grew to appreciate it once I educated myself. Great movie!

Currently enjoying Paradise on Hulu. Sterling K Brown is fiiiine. It's by the same guy (Dan Fogelman) who did This is Us, but it's a completely different kind of show.

I agree with bpath about The Sticky. Maybe slapstick doesn't work over longer episodes?

THE DIPLOMAT (no idea how to bold on my phone, so I just yelled!), Season 2. Meant to pace myself, but ended up bingeing it.

I finally watched the movie Groundhog Day this week. I'm a little behind in my movie watching. lol Andie MacDowell looked so young and lovely. I liked the last 15 minutes of the movie best.
I took advantage of Hulu's holiday sale so I could watch Only Murders in the Building, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I added Max for a shorter duration and have been watching The Pitt. I like medical dramas, and I like Noah Wylie and the rest of the cast too. I just wish I didn't have to wait for weekly episodes.
I enjoyed Dark Winds--a series about Navajo cops on a reservation in New Mexico in the 1970s. And Night Agent, although I'm looking for series with less suspense these days. Started watching the romantic comedy Nobody Wants This, with Kristen Bell. The couple's first kiss was rather memorable.
I won't leave you in suspense:

Where are the reruns of Alfred Hitchcock? We only have Netflix and I don't remember seeing them. I loved that show.
We watched a Netflix movie tonight called Menu with Ralph Fiennes. I think it's a 2022 movie and I really liked it.

I've been enjoying "William and Mary" an older British series starring Martin Clunes. He's much younger in this than in Doc Martin and I like this character.

Late to the game here, but just started watching ’Long Lost Family’
The series started in 2011.
Total tearjerker- I had no idea about these events/scenarios/reunions.

We're watching A Gentleman in Moscow. We're two episodes in and so far I love it. We're watching on Paramount+ but it says it's available on Hulu too.

I watched Apple Cider Vinegar on Netflix. A small series that I binged. It's a true story about an Australian woman who faked cancer and scammed people.

LOL Watching the new season of The Traitors on Peacock. This show is a hoot!

Bookwoman, thanks for recommending Paradise. I started watching today. Enjoying it!

Shaun Evans (Endeavor Morse) is the most recent familiar actor to pop-up on SiLK. Half the fun of watching this is spotting the many British actors who appear in this lawyer drama, then guessing what other characters they've played before actually looking them up online.

We just finished the second season of Reacher. I liked it, but think the first season was better. Looking forward to Season 3 soon.

Liked Reacher. Also looking forward to season 3.
Liked Halo, 1 & 2. Season 2 was better than 1.

I’m enjoying Nobody Wants This except, the ”I know nothing about Judaism” schtick is overdone and not believable. She doesn’t know what Shalom and shabbat are? I confess I had to look up ”haftarah” but even without looking it up I had a pretty good idea of what it was. (And in addition, ”Sasha” will always be Jonah from Veep.)
edit to retract a bit. Back in the ’80s when I worked in a hotel sale office in Texas, I was the one who explained to a salesperson why a family was planning a big party for their 13-year-old daughter, why the other secretary was out of the office one day in October, and what those words meant. So, I guess I just grew up in a different place. But still.
another edit to remind myself: it’s television fiction. Lots of things in movies and series are illogical or impossible. I'll let it go. And at the bat mitzvah, I decided to look at Sasha with different eyes, and I didn't see Jonah, so I should be ready by next season. Can't wait!

For Reacher fans, I want to share really this article by Melanie McFarland
Also, Alan Ritchson was on The Late Show last week - 11 months ago
Severance is my favorite at the moment, and White Lotus us off to a good start for me

I watched 3 episodes of Season 3 of Reacher last night. I like him.
Prior to watching Reacher I watched more of Hudson and Rex. It's a show made in Newfoundland featuring a detective and his German Shephard side-kick Rex. Rex died last week and I wanted to see him in action again. One of his sons will be filling his role.
I stopped watching the show a couple of years ago because the writers made two main characters a love relationship and it doesn't work for me at all.

We just finished Zero Day on Netflix with Robert DeNiro and Lizzy Caplan. Thought it was well done and timely. Six episodes.

I started watching Flip or Flop. Christine and her ex Terek, were going head to head in a flip competition. Then Christine and her husband #3 broke up! The competition kept going. Then they brought in Christines ex-husband #2 as a judge...and you have to pay a premium for any future episodes.
Liking Reacher....yes! - 11 months ago
I just finishing watching "A French Village" (English title) on MHz Choice. Started with 10 free episodes on the Roku channel, then took a free intro offer, then paid a prorated amount to get to the finish. It is a drama about the people and experiences of (guess what) a French village from 1940 through 1945. The writers were, I think, very even handed in their treatment of those who "collaborated" and those in the "resistance". At times it strayed into typical TV series relationship drama, but still over all I thought it very good and interesting.
It is in French with subtitles.
Also on the same streaming platform, I have watched a couple of episodes of "Inspector Rex" - an Austrian series featuring a detective and his crime solving police dog. Jasdip, I think this must be the original of the show you watched! The hair/makeup screams early 1980s. It is in German with subtitles. - 11 months ago
Watching The Americas tonight and really enjoying it. Hosted by Tom Hanks.
Nicole and other orchid lovers, there’s a very charming segment about Orchid Bees in Mexico. :)

They just released an older series on Netflix that I had never heard of before called Younger. I loved it, a very light hearted dramedy. The premise is a 40 year old woman who can’t get hired after leaving the workforce to raise her kid winds up pretending to be 26 to get hired. You can imagine where it goes from there.

I've started with Reacher again and finished the Recruit. Also need to pick up the Night Agent. That's a lot in one genre.
In the opposite end of the floof spectrum, I started Offline Love. I usually hate dating reality shows, but this one takes 10 Japanese singles and throws them into French Rivera, without their phones or other forms of communication other than letters. They have to find their way around using a guidebook,, map and a bank of letter boxes. It was flagged to me because one of the locations is 200 feet from me. - 11 months ago
If anyone out there loves medical shows like I do I recommend The Pitt (on Max) starring Noah Wyle as an ER attending in a busy metropolitan hospital- you might remember him as Dr. Carter on ER. Each episode is one hour of a 12 hour shift. Not for the squeamish! This is the first scripted hospital series I’ve chosen to watch since ER, like 20 years ago, because I find myself yelling at the TV “How about giving that patient some OXYGEN!!” and can’t stand more than one episode. All my ex co-workers are loving The Pitt.

The Pitt is great! I just wish I didn't have to wait a week for each episode now. We get so spoiled. lol

dadoes! Sorry to be so late seeing your wonderful links to Captain Video. I can't believe it began in 1948. I didn't discover it until much later. I remember one episode about trees communicating through their roots -- still news today. Science, anyone? Thank you!

America narrated by Tom Hanks. Two episodes aired yesterday and I think more will follow on Sundays. The first show was the United States and the second was South America. The photography is beyond amazing. If you like wildlife and nature you will enjoy this.

For those that watch Survivor...it starts Wed 2/26, for 2 hours.
We watched the movie "Baby Driver" last night. We like fast cars and chase scenes, so we liked the peeling out scenes, but the story line....was a B-.
We'll try to stream America tonight to catch up. Hopefully It's available....?

raee -- A French Village is teriffic!
Today's Teatime Matinee will be the last episode of a BBC production What Remains via BritBox.
It would help me if posters would include the service streaming their picks. We've currently watching Prime and BritBox. We'll take Masterpiece once all of All Creatures Great and Small and Wolf Hall are 'in the can' so we can watch an episode a day without interruption.

I watch Reacher on Prime and The Americas on network TV.
Nicole, awesome, I hope this season of Survivor is as good as the last one.
Amazing Race is my favorite, it starts March 5.

America is available FREE on Peacock to stream. The photography and reporting is FANTASTIC! Highly recommend it!
Looking forward to Amazing Race....so far...I'm having trouble staying awake....:0) - 11 months ago
We have been following a youtube video blog Cruising the Canal, and now we learned about a series Great Canal Journeys. Actors Timothy West and Prunella Scales cruise various canals in UK and France in narrowboats. It’s both interesting and relaxing.

New floof to have running in the background: With Love, Meghan. I watched the first episode, it was a nice antidote to what I had watched immediately before. It is calm, measured, staged, kind, and fresh-looking. Some things I found hard to fathom, like making candles and baking and decorating cakes while dressed in white with poofy sleeves and dangly bracelets, but it’s all part of the look of the show. I think my mom would have enjoyed watching it (over Property Brothers, where she was greatly disturbed by ”demolition day”).
Unlike some shows, I never got the impression that this show was suggesting that I, too, could do these things and why aren’t I? It was just sweet. okay, bland, kind of like fresh whipped cream without sugar. At least the first episode was.

Yesterday we started ZERO ZERO ZERO on Prime. It's a buyer-to-distributor-to-user on cocaine, beginning with an old mafiosa in Calabria, Italy who has been forced to live underground for his safety. IDK if I'm going to be able to tolerate the intrigue/veolence, but this does star Gabriel Byrne.

Clyde Morgan I think it is The Marvelous Mrs Maizel and yes, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
