Great Idea!

Great idea to use the same stone for the backsplash. It's very dramatic and I'd love to see it vertical with the white cabinets. What is the stone?

+1 to using the countertop material as the backsplash.

Have you considered drywalling the kitchen ceiling and updating the lighting?

I don't think the kitchen showroom wants the OP drywalling their ceiling!

With such a highly patterned countertop would suggest that the backsplash be very simply so as not to compete with the countertop.

Another vote for using the same quartzite for the backsplash, but it can be expensive. We did in my tiny kitchen and had to buy a second slab. We had at LOT left over and have now used it up to good advantage but I also wound up building a couple of cabinets in the dining room which added to the expense. I love it all but dollars were flying 💸💸💸out the door, which is what happens with a renovation.

Definite concern here too! This particular slab is $125.00 a sq ft! My kitchen is pretty big.
