What color do I have my island painted?!

last year

I would like to have my kitchen island painted - should it be the same color as the cabinets?

green would be the best with dining chairs and your floor. many shades to choose from.

What's your color scheme? Look up 60-30-10 guideline, create an actual color scheme and do it whatever your 10% accent color is. For best results repeat variation s of accent color (lighter, darker, grayer, brighter) elsewhere in the room and even into adjoining room..

Paint it a wood tone. Something which will relate to the floors and the dining chairs.

A new light over the table is imperative.

No need for stools...use the island for serving instead.

A neutral green would look great with what you already have in there. Before you go through the trouble of painting, this would be a perfect time to add some interesting trim to the plain sides of the island. Look for a style that compliments the beams in the room.

Your color palette is missing a color.

What is your favorite color? What colors have you used in other areas of your home?

How can you tie things together and add some color?

You can paint the island white and use an actual color on the walls and add some bowls and a table centerpiece with the same color or paint the island and the walls in 2 shades of the same color and bring in the same color with a table centerpiece and a fruit bowl on the island.

Mother nature loves green - it works with most colors, but not everyone loves green.

Seeing colors that you love helps increase dopamine production and makes you happier.

I would paint the island the same color as your cabinets. It will make your kitchen feel a bit bigger. I also agree with Jennifer above, your kitchen needs some color added in accents, or on walls.

Either match the cabs or go with a color.🙂

Can you post a pic of the other sides of this room? It all plays a part of your color scheme.

No advice from me, just want to say how much I love your chairs.

Thanks all- good ideas! My house is small and the kitchen and dining area looks into the living room. I will post a picture of the living room as it has in it

The living room has blue in it

When you say looks into, do you mean they are connected as all one room or a large arch between the two? Would you want to use color to unite the two spaces - maybe blue, or not?

You might want to add some of that blue, or even a darker shade of blue into kitchen accessories, so it all flows, since it is open to one another.

Now that you have shown the adjacent space, I feel bolder to say: I was thinking, the chairs have a French country feel for me (regardless of what style they are) and for me, that means blue.

Your living room is absolutely beautiful. I would lighten the island to match the cabinets. I would paint the two stools a color similar to the blue in the living room and get a centerpiece for the table. I may add blue knobs and pulls and may get placemats with the a similar blue. May want a darker stools and a mix of blues and another color in the placemats.

This store has really nice placemats that work nicely on a round table. My sister bought some of his placemats and I stored the address so I can get some when I renovate my kitchen.
