Don't make a decision about a FP without considering how you expect to arrange the furniture and where you will place the TV

No one sitting on the sofa will be directly facing the TV in this layout.

Looks like it should be on the wall to the left.

What would you do for the wall around fireplace? Send me some ideas? Linear will be only 36” so about half that wide.

If you plan to place a TV above the fireplace, the fireplace should NEVER TO SHORTER THAN THE TV

Your points are well taken!! TY!! However, anything larger would be too much heat for the space, especially since the kitchen range is in the same space. We want it for ambiance and warmth. But maybe we should still think bigger? I’ll check into that! Okay…now would you just do a plain wall, or would you do shiplap or tile, or any other ideas?? TY!!!

Seems an odd place for the FP since that area already looks to be a bit difficult to arrange furniture Can you post a to scale floor plan of that whole area with measurements pictures often distort rooms IMO 36" wide FP will only allow a very small TV above it if that is the plan I need to get a feel for the space for sure. Is this the only room for TV ? Why gas at all elctric linears give of a nice heat a lot less money to install too.. We need more info and you need to think about the space and how it will befurnished. You are lucky the FP is not already in to deal with
