what degree of privacy screening is necessary?

hi people!

Due to some changes, I am now thinking of getting some of that privacy mesh stuff. (This is for an area that doesn't get much sun, so I don't need to worry about UV exposure.)

There is a company that makes screening that looks durable and affordable. It says it blocks about 90% of the visibility.

Is that overkill? And are there other, medium-blocking options that would get the job done? Maybe I only need to blur things out.

I've been doing some online searching but maybe someone already knows all about this? Is there a happy medium out there?

Thanks in advance.

What are you screening? Bathroom window? Patio where you sunbathe naked? What are you screening out? View of your neighbor's garage?

    Very tough to advise.

I am trying to just screen our living areas windows from the street, as people walk by fairly often. (Also I want to have something that tells people that they should not come onto the area - however, that is a lesser concern, as most people behave just fine.) We are about 2' up off the walk already, so I am thinking perhaps a 4' high thing will do.

There was a natural greenery screen happening, but it was cut back. In fact, if I get better at training things, we may not need a screen for very long.

And I don't want it to seem hostile. I don't think even the 90% thing would look hostile - I think people will understand. But I would like the nicest-looking, least hostile, yet very quick, effective, affordable option possible.

And it has to be green ... I have found one good option, but I am curious that there don't seem to be others. (I don't like the fake ivy-ish walls - that's just not my scene. But at least somebody tried ... ) I could imagine that there could exist, somewhere, an option that is just a little bit racheted down from the one I already found - maybe even with some very gentle, abstract leaf print.

Sorry I don't have pictures. It is just the side of a house, with a bunch of windows, right on a sidewalk. Like, about 10' away.

    Thanks in advance!

    Have you considered drapes?.......or shades/shutters?

Oh yes, we have drapes already - but we usually only want the liners to be in use. For the light. ; ) This is the area where we spend most of the day.

Four foot high may block access, but a person's eyes are at a higher point. 6' seems better.

Yes, you may be right, dan1888 - it may be better to go a bit higher.

It appears that one can find shade cloth in different thicknesses, but it is usually black. I was hoping for green. Perhaps I will just end up using outdoor fabric, which I can probably find in any color. But then I'll have to do the grommets myself. (It's always something, isn't it?)
