Hi. Finalizing a gut job primary bath reno and trying to finalize main floor and shower wall tile size/layouts. Full room is 9' x 13' wide. Drawing of new layout is below. (it's not drawn, but will build in a bench on the tub side of shower. ) Replacing vanity but will be in same area. Have 4' x 5-6' to play with for shower size - will finalize after demo when see if any plumbing challenges for floor mounted tub filler. May also angle tub in the corner vs along wall, linear with shower.

Using marble tile & plan to use same material for main floor, shower walls & shower floor (this will ~2" x 2" hex)

Trying to finalize size/patterns for main floor & shower walls & looking for advice, things to consider, especially with shower walls. Rethinking some original plans ...already have the tile, all in 12" x 24" but I could save some of it for another bathroom & buy additional if I feel strongly I need to incorporate a different size tile.

Main floor I want to keep larger size pieces... utilizing 12x24 tiles & feel have 3 choices:

• 6" x 24" herringbone (which is depicted in the drawing. Tile installer would have to cut & smooth/polish cut edges on site. Aware of extra labor expense & extra waste.)
• 12" x 24" in 1/3 offset brick layout, long side paralleling vanity & shower
• 12" x 24" in herringbone pattern

Shower walls:

• 12" x 24" (pattern tbd ... 1/3 horizontal brick offset?)
• 3" x 9" brick?
• 4" x 12" brick?
• other?
• I have flip flopped between using larger format so less grout lines & look more 'quiet' & consistent with /less 'busy' , ... but now am wondering if using a smaller size tile is more balanced looking with the larger floor tile (but is it extra busy looking with all the grout lines on a fairly large wall ?)

Thought & considerations, considering my overall layout & floor space? Would it look ok to use 12" x 24" for both main floor & shower walls? (if ok, maybe pattern differences?) Or does it look better to have variation in the size between the 2 areas?

Adding a few pictures for context of current bath (we are swapping location of tub & shower to get that big shower, & removing interior wall that creates current shower & toilet room (& likely removing that lower ceiling as well.)

Also adding a picture of a 6" x 24" herringbone floor & 2 with a 12" x 24" herringbone for visuals.
