What To Wear February 2025

Last month’s thread is so long I decided to start this one a day early 😎

We have had a LOT of discussion about animal prints and the consensus seems to be that we are all, in varying degrees but generally, In Favor of Animal Prints. Comes now an animal print I myself do not like At All or did not until I saw Lydia Jane Tomlinson modeling it. Snake print! Yuck, but see these pictures:

I think they look really good with gray, white and black. I got an email today from Mossimo Dutti that the slacks are back in stock and still just $120. I’m conflicted! And remember this is something I can NEVER wear in my mother’s presence. Should I or shouldn’t I?

@Still trailing...Trailrunner...so glad to see you! And...that your still running trails. I remember your photos of your lovely home with pool. And all the loaves of bread you bake. You made a lasting impression.

Thanks for the welcome back. We’ve been permanently in the Shenandoah Valley since 2017 December. @nicole the pool was in Alabama.

I still bake a lot and mill my own grains and branched out to flaking my grains as well for porridge. Making our yogurt is another newer endeavor that I finally figured out .

We have taken a lot of trips with the focus always on outdoor activities and a good gym nearby . We’ve been lucky health wise , as Jo said , that’s the biggest part of it.

The grands are 13 ( here in town) and 7 and 5 in Alpharetta GA. The not so littles come and spend June with us , their Dammie/ Tappy . We have a bonus grand who is 16 this month.

That’s plenty of thread stealing … haha on a clothes thread . Thanks again . c

Hello @Still trailing! What a great surprise to see your beautiful faces on this snowy morning in New England . Happy to hear that you are able to still do all the activties that you both so enjoy.

I did buy this Patagonia vest NWT when I could not find it in stores. So far this year I have bought, I think, six vests! I like them over button downs for the flexibility vs a heavy sweater

That’s a very pretty color of white, Mtn— a worthy addition to your wardrobe of vests which is now an official Collection 😁

I bought this vintage dress on ebay for the cute, large, heart-shaped tortoiseshell buttons. It was not my size but looked like it might fit so I tried it on…... the look is a little 1980’s Aer Lingus flight attendant:

The skirt part of the dress is actually kept together by those buttons, they aren’t decorative, which is surprising. I may keep this to wear at our St. Patrick’s Day party before cannibalizing it for the buttons. Not sure what shoes to wear with it though, any suggestions? It has a long back zip, mock neck, and is a knit that’s heavier than anticipated, almost like a fleece but not (no fleece).

It's a long sleeved WInter look...how do boots look with it?

Some golf looks from last week and the week before!

A few days ago I bought five new plain solid color skorts in white, hot pink, black, navy and khaki. I have four other patterned skorts I haven’t worn yet (so no pictures). I Last week I ordered a couple of golf specific slacks in two sizes that I‘ve returned; the larger size (correct length) was too big around the waist and in the seat, and the smaller size fit in those areas but was too short. I’m still looking for pants. But I now have at least 16 complete golf outfits just for that purpose and many more if I start mixing and matching.

Try Liz Golf on Poshmark - they used to have many in assorted sizes/colors

Ks, those skirts are adorable on you!

I’m this close to buying some Adidas like yours in the first pic. As a kid, a close relative was an executive for that brand and we all wore lots of Adidas shoes and sweats. :D

For my upcoming trip to FL I decided it was time for a new bathing suit. I haven’t bought one in years because it is my least favorite thing to shop for (or wear, for that matter). I took advantage of a recent Garnet Hill sale and got this, and since it didn’t make me vomit or cry, I decided to keep it. Maybe hard to tell but it is a 2 piece.

I also bought this coverup, which is nice enough to wear as a casual dress IMO.

Cute suit, Sue, and love the coverup dress also. That color is perfect for you! i cannot tell you how much i hate trying on bathing suits. Ugh. There’s no lighting known to man that can make me look good in one. I too have the ”this will have to do” mentality about swimwear.

Here’s one of my outfits from my regional conference the past two days. It was very cold outside despite it being in Greenville, SC, and then some of the session rooms were super cold. Top is Sundance. I think I wore that in Austin. Dress pants are Liz Claiborne I’ve had for many years and can wear again. I like vests as well as the circle scarfs.

Thst looks so warm and cozy, Gscience! Your slacks are the **perfect** length — something I have trouble getting right and have noticed many others have difficulty with it also.

The circle scarf is perfect with that outfit. I want to start wearing more of those. You look fab!

    Kswl thanked ilikefriday

I also like the buttons on the sleeves of your sweater, gscience!

I think the top is on sale at Sundance. It is available in the berry and cream. I am wearing PL.

The scarfs are great because it can be a little drafty in some of the conference rooms or even in my office. They add a little bit of extra warmth and look good. I have a set that came gray, black, and white.

My vest arrived and it's a little tighter than I'd lik but it'll do. Meanwhile heading out today to look for some new jeans in person. I think I need more bottoms for my trip. Wish me luck out there.

Good luck with the jeans search Mtn! I have tried on jeans from almost every mfg (except J Crew, for some reason I’ve avoided them) and so far my favorite is American Eagle. They are comfortable and every size comes in regular. short and long lengths.

Interesting, they were not on my list. The problem about that kind of size variety is that it is usually not actually stocked in the stores.

There were several posters here raving about Democracy jeans. They're available at several stores - Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, Macy's, the Big A. At least they're on the their web sites but whether they're actually available in the store is a different matter.

I have a pair of those Democracy jeans and for mr they have a little too much stretch. If i put them on in the morning they are falling off.by lunchtime, so they require a belt.

Not as bad as I thought. I got a pair of black jeans and denim jeans at RL. And, of course, a button down shirt. BTW, is there such a thing as a "reverse influencer?" Because i went into a store that shall remain nameless and looked around and decided it was not for me.

When I was away this last weekend the spa had a cute boutique. I got a really cute black knit two button blazer with a hood, of all things. It's kind of like a blazer and hoodie had a baby. I like it because it nips in nice at the waist.

I also tried on a jacket I planned to buy until I looked at the price. It was $1100, which i was not expecting. I decided to see if I could find it for less online but so far no luck. It is a brand called Maximilian. This is the coat but the colors of the one i liked were different. "Mine" is cream and tan small check with windowpane plaid in a light blue grey. The colors were so pretty, Like the one below, it reverses to a solid tan color. Does that make it half price?

This is a no makeup look— i got dressed first . This is a book club, lunch and evening choir outfit of black zip front ponte slacks, a black button up, band collar voile shirt with very pale (almost white) gray polkadots, black shoes and a pink cardigan.

It’s an okay outfit, I would probablyly rate it an 8/10 for utility and a 4.5/10 for cuteness.

On my way out the door to Atlanta to take my mom for her quarterly cardiology check up and shopping afterwards. Look today was driven by ease of trying on clothes in a changing room 😎 with snaps all the way down this utility style shirt dress. It’s a bit chilly this am so I'm wearing a darker green raincoat that is also a good weight as a spring coat when worn without sweater layers. Today's temps range from 45 to 74… winter to spring in a single day!

I bought this Gretchen Scott dress new with tags on Poshmark last year: it was a maxi length and looked like someone had mistakenly made a utility ballgown 😳 I had it shortened to the length you see and it is a very useful ”one and done” outfit.

Good results from shopping trip! Quick try on photos sans face and hair😵‍💫

Cocktail dress, black net over nude lining, classic fit and flare. All edges (sleeves, neck, hem, even edges of back zipper) banded in black satin.

Voile skirt with large inverted pleats and lower back hem. I usually don’t go for uneven hems but the curve of this is determined by the pleating and it hangs beautifully, lined with a crinoline. Wearing with black collared button up blouse, many other options in closet. (New flats from Chico’s for summer, got in black and nude suede)

Hard to see this one :( Black lace lady jacket, wonderful fit and details, incl four working buttons on each sleeve and a tulip hem in front. Looks good with previous skirt, black velvet slacks and probably other things

off white cotton sweater with a denim hued blue.. Nice weight for spring, bottom band is different type of heavier knit than sweater, really pretty!

New American Eagle jeans in smaller size and with No ”distressing” on pockets. (Previous pair fell off after wearing for a couple of hours, happily donated.)

adding skirt, blue underskirt with ecru net overskirt with blue pattern, bought with an ecru satin button up shirt from same mfg but also goes nicely with old J Mclaughlin lightweight linen summer sweater with boat neck and 3/4 sleeves. This is for dancing dates!

Such perfect timing Kswl - finishing off the month with a very successful shopping excursion. Such wonderful selections, all winners. I am curious though - certainly you didn't find all of those in one boutique. If so, then that is definitely one stop shopping.

The black dress fits as though it were made for me and I love it ❤️ DH keeps bringing up a transatlantic crossing on the QM — not to go anywhere 🙄just crossing both ways with s few days in Hamburg in between. LOTS of opportunity to dress for dinner!

@Kswl, I’m with your DH. A transatlantic crossing on the QM2 is at the top of my to-do list! DH and I were planning a crossing to London for an MLB game in June of 2020. He and one of his buddies were big St. Louis Cardinals fans. Well, you know what happened to cruising in 2020. I told DD to get ready. I have a major b’day coming up in 2 years!

And I love that black dress! So understated; so elegant.

@ilikefriday, speaking of traveling, I’ve told DD of your travel-spontaneity! She wants to grow up to be you! She thinks grabbing an always-packed suitcase and getting on the first interesting flight sounds like heaven.

BBstx, tonight my mother called us with her dates for the annual visiting of the relatives, something akin to the queen’s royal progress through small towns of NC and Tennessee, lol. We really only want to leave town for an extended period when we know she is safely watched over and is not by herself, so we’ve been waiting for this. Tonight Cunard had a balcony cabin available during the time she will be gone for a roundtrip TA crossing and we booked it! That black dress is going to sea!

The green glow west of you is my jealousy lighting up the night!! Are you going to do the Hamburg leg, too?

That one did not fit our window of opportunity. The one we are taking goes to Rotterdam instead and we are doing that. I am excited about visiting a small town outside the city where I spent a winter when our ship was in drydock.
