Changing the siding on my 2nd story

I have a lovely chicago brick bungalow i bought 3 years ago i fell in love with the inside and my yard and the porch however, the 2nd story has always bothered me. im not sure what the owners over 50 years ago thought when they added the addition
so im trying to find away to make it work my thought is…to do a black siding on top to help make it standout less. right now it looks like it has a big forehead. i will probably change the windows to be more in style to the ones below.
the siding guy mentioned board and batten siding as another option. what that be a good choice?
please dont shame for the look- i would just appreciate thoughts on how to make it better
