Accurate, to scale measurements will be needed, walls, windows, door openingsm etc., including the size of your piano and other furniture you plan on adding.

Have you measured to make sure there's enough room on that wall for a piano?

So sorry. From entrance to kitchen to the windows is 11’. Length of the room is 14.5’. With 8’ ceilings. Double doors are 64” , windows 72”, piano is 56”w x 24”d. and there is an opening to the foyer on the side not pictures that is 42”w x 72”h. The only furniture i have planned is the piano. Its all up for grabs.

Yes. The piano is currently in the room on that wall. Pretty much the only spot for it in there.

Please ignore the insane remodeling mess. But here is that side of the room with the piano on the wall.

Where is this room in relation to the kitchen? A dining room is best near the kitchen. Post a floor plan with all rooms on this floor.

You'll want to take a moment with some graph paper and plot out the space with all dimensions for walls, openings, window/door locations w/size and then take a good photo of it to post here. As they say, one hour of planning is worth 4 hours of work! You've given the lure without the fishing rod at this point. Lol.

It's your feet and inches and they hold what they hold between the walls : )

If you need/want a dining room you will use, it will be lovely. If you don’t use for regular dining then it will collect all the “stuff” that unused dining rooms collect. Instead of dining, a conversation grouping of 4 swivel chairs and a round table or a round game table that can also be used for dining.

Now you're making me work again??

Yes, that's nice too around a 30 or 36" cocktail table with 30 " wide swivel chairs

Assuming the piano does fit on that wall, make it a small sitting room as suggested with a couple swivel barrel armchairs and round coffee table. It could be a nice spot for people to gather when you entertain. Set up a bar in there.

If there are stairs up to the kitchen, then it's not a great place for a dining room. You could have it be an ancillary dining space for parties with a round table by the window and a couple upholstered chairs.

Just to clarify. I am not needing renovation ideas. Just simply decor ideas and if a dining room or sitting room would work better in the space. Having 3 openings in the room makes it a tad awkward and I wasnt sure how much space between each opening and the furniture was acceptable or would work. Jan thank you so much for those sketches!! Those are so helpful!

I did this before you posted the dimensions of the room just based on what I saw in your pictures and looks like a dining table would fit. No idea of your style!

It's the same thing......the feet and inches come first: )

The "look" of a room , the feel, the flavor etc? Is secondary to use, function, what can fit and fit well. What SIZE are those things?

That console on the left? No more than 12 inches deep and 42 long?? The door swing! bang. You stilllll NEED exact notation of where the kitchen entrance is on that left wall

Which as you can see is why I said..

"That console on the left? No more than 12 inches deep and 42 long??"

Dang door swing and it is traffic to your porch.

You CAN use graph paper, and you can also use even a regular ruler.....and scale means every square on 1/4 inch paper IS one foot. Your chairs would have to stay all very tucked in : )

You can do all of what is above for ANY room in your new home

The plan above is to scale, each square = 1'0"
