how light? what do you have now? Are you merely painting, or are you lighting up the furniture as well? Photos of the home would help.

Hard to give advice without photos. The particular style and it's many elements will have some effect on the colors that you select. Some styles already have sort of a built in selection of colors. Lots of things to consider.
