NO and why just do all metal. I do not understand why wood at all. I assume you live in Hawaii since those pass through windows are rarely wonderful and often are just a PITA to keep clean . Maybe post a pic here of the actual plan and where exactly this awning window is going to open up to. I really hate pass throughs in most cases so some context maybe . In any plae where wind is an issue they often will not pass code .

We live in Santa Barbara on a hill facing the ocean (south) in a Mediterranean style home. The window is the main focus of the kitchen, opening to a covered/enclosed patio. The concept of the window is to blend inside/outside, and create a smooth pass through beyond the sink and out to the entertaining area. We rarely get strong winds from the south and there would be no cross wind in this space. The (screened) casement windows on either side would be employed daily for ventilation; the awning would not be used daily.
I understand now that wood casements supporting a steel awning window would not be ideal in the long haul, and am now wondering if the entire window set could be steel. I’d like to explore all options, not fond of tri-fold idea as it cannot have a screen and has a track at the base that blows the clean pass through look I’m after.

Why such a small opening when you have so much room to make it larger?

Increasing the width of the window from 6’ to 8’ would be the max. One side has cooktop inside with outdoor fireplace at the patio, the other side has ovens and an upper cabinet (will be reducing the width on this). That’s the max we can do.

Sightlines would never come close. It will look way off.
