Need ideas please-dining area wall

Hi, I need advice on what to do with this unusual wall in an open concept dining area. I’ve been in this house 30+ years and I haven’t ever really known what to do with it. The space is too small for any furniture other than the table. In the past I’ve had art or a mirror on that wall but it just doesn’t look that nice. I plan on replacing the chandelier with a multi light pendant but need advice for the wall. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The portion of the wall that is open is not load bearing. If you removed that part of the wall and visually opened the dining room into the larger space, it might seem so confining. Just a thought.

What about wallpapering the entire dining room.

With a dramatic light fixture, I don't think the walls need anything. (I really like the colors I see now; are the areas actually different colors or is that just lighting?)

Possibly a wallpaper with a very subtle pattern and a bit of sheen?

Or an artist could paint a subtle single branch pattern (silver?) in a larger scale, across both walls from lower left to upper right.

But install the new light fixture first and then see what you think.

The lighting idea that @simplynatural shared looks really nice. I would wait until after you update the lighting to decide if the wall needs anything and if so, consider something more whimsical such as shown below.

Thanks so much for all the great ideas. The light fixture you showed was exactly what I had in mind but I couldn’t visualize it. The idea of a simple wallpaper is a good idea as well. I wish I could remove the wall entirely but I can’t. The walls are all the same color. I think there are shadows from the other rooms.. The architecture of this house is really strange. I guess this was popular in the early 90’s.

I would probably have opened up, or closed up, that wall 20 years ago!

I'm going to guess the house is in FL!

LOL, you are correct. The problem with closing the wall, is the ceiling is vaulted & there would be massively high walls of different heights surrounding the living & dining areas, and taking it down would be an issue because the kitchen is located directly behind the wall in the photo, and the HVAC unit is located within that same wall.

All your selects are so 'safe' they don't add anything to the room. The room requires some texture and contrast.

Select a large canvas for the wall

No one should place an island chandelier over a round table. Replace it with one that is taller than it is wide so it takes up the volume of space with the vaulted ceilings.

There is no way to tell what the color of anything is from this photo.

    Chairs white?

    Walls white?

    Flooring?

That’s a beautiful statement chandelier. I will certainly look for something like that to replace the old one. I know everything is very “safe,” at this point, that’s why I’m asking for advice before making any additional purchases. The table is an old Ethan Allen table I’ve had for many years.
