What color is the brick wall? Hard to tell if both walls are teal. Post a picture of the FP wall.

The brick wall and the FP wall are both a dark teal, “Paris by night” by sico paint

Because the pinky taupe (grey) couch against the teal brick feels and looks squished, I would pull the sofa out of the niche and ”build” a sofa table behind it. By build, I mean there are tons of easily made bookcases/console tables which don't require any tools or skills on your part. They often use stacked bricks or books with some shelves cut to size at your local building supply. The sofa can sit directly against the console table, so it doesn't intrude much further into the room Hopefully, you have outlets in the brick wall, so 2 nice table lamps on the console table would add personality to the room as well as provide lighting.

A larger rug in the moody coloration you like is muchneeded. Art hanging on the brick wall (I've successfully used brick hangers) would be a great addition.

As to color, maybe a nice eggplant (aubergine) would add richness and go well with the color of the couch.

Ooo I like this idea of the console and using it for the lighting! I’m almost ready to part with this couch anyway, so I’m thinking of fully changing the layout… maybe get a different style of couch.
