Which color flooring compliments cabinets and finishing the best?

Which color of engineered hardwood would you choose? Which compliments the cabiners best?

Is everything else staying the same? If the answer is "yes"- you need to consider how your countertops/backsplash/paint also work with your flooring, in addition to your cabinets. Is this floor being installed throughout your home? If "yes," then you'll need to think about how the floor will work with the rest of your home.

On my screen, the first flooring works the best with everything + it's not a busy looking floor. The second flooring is too orange - makes the tone of the cabinets more red/orange. The third is too busy looking - your backsplash is busy - the flooring looks a lot like the backsplash re: mix of colors. The fourth is too rustic/busy + has orange and green tones in places (I'm using my iPhone - so, not sure how accurate the screen is re: colors).

If you replaced your backsplash, it would really help update your kitchen.

I actually think that there is probably a better option than any of the above ones. Are you limited to the ones you've shown?

    Thank you for your feedback.

The majority of the rest of the kitchen will stay the same, as well as the house, aside from possibly repainting the walls.

What other options would you recommend? Would you lean toward one of the lighter options?

Out of curiosity, what would you update the backsplash to?

What are the floors in the rest of the house ? I think the backsplash needs to change and as for the floors you show probably yhe 1st one but monitors are no way to choose colors of anything Find the one you like the sample of then go get a box and lay it out in your space with your stuff and your lighting.

What is your budget for flooring per sf? What is the (i) thickness of the veneer layer on the first one (top wood layer - will be most likely 2-5 mm), (ii) overall thickness of the planks, and (iii) how is the wood finished (what type of top coat + how many layers were put on the boards?

The first one appears to look nice in your other photos.

Your countertops and cabinets look nice! If you would add more photos of your kitchen (not through the flooring app - just regular ones) from different angles, I (and likely other users) will let you know about backsplash options.

Your backsplash would look good with a more simple tile. There are some pretty inexpensive options that would work. FYI - many people will replace their backsplash as their first tile installation - fairy straightforward - and there are certain products that make it easier for a newbie (assuming you are one - if not, then you already know what you can use to make it an easier job).

What are the paint colors on your walls/trim?

Okay - I decided to look up the flooring stats on number 1 above.

Wood species: European Oak - I thought it looked like European oak - I installed some recently in my house. It's a nice wood.

Veneer layer - 1.5 mm - guess I was wrong about min being 2 mm! 1.5 mm is very thin.

thickness of plank - 3/8" - that is also pretty thin (I think that's the minimum thickness that I've seen).

I noticed that it has the grade of the wood as "character grade" = character grade means lots of variation/knots/sapwood (different color wood)/mineral streaks/worm holes. There is nothing wrong with character grade - if you want a rustic looking floor with a lot of variation/marks. The photo of the floor installed in a kitchen looks different than the two other photos of the boards on the website + different than when you use their app to see what it will look like in your home:

In the photo above, there is more variation (bigger difference between the dark and light boards) in the color of the boards than I was expecting based upon the first one where you used the app to have the floor shown in your kitchen.

There have been people on here who have been very surprised when they see their flooring installed due to how much variation there is vs. how the sample boards looked.

EDIT - added all photos and writing below this part of original comment:

Below are examples posted on Houzz where the OP was surprised by how different their floors looked vs. the samples:

    1. Sample:

    Actual installed floor:

    2. Sample board laying on top of other floors at store:

    Actual flooring that was installed:

    3. Installed floor in top photo - sample that was shown on website in bottom photo:

this shows the different grades of European oak - "character grade" is used in the U.S. - would most likely be a mix of C grade and D grade boards:

I am concerned that your floors may be more rustic looking than you are expecting - which would not look as nice with your cabinets (in my opinion).

What is the flooring in the balance of the first floor/adjacent rooms? Get an actual box of each of your final 2 and lay them out in your space, Do not use visualizers or pics for a final decision. I would match the balance the first floor as my first choice.

I like the first one based on how the examples appear on my screen. Agree regarding a different backsplash. Something simple due to the pattern in the counters.

Avalon looks great, compliments without clashing.

Sorry, I think all of them look too rustic to go with your kitchen cabinets.

FYI - my European Oak floors have a 5 mm veneer + 5/8" thick hardwood plywood core. My understanding after doing research is that you want at least 1/2' hardwood ply core + 3mm veneer.

Also - I bought a box of my flooring before placing entire order. I wanted to see the mix of board sizes (specs showed 36"-84" - but wanted to make sure that it wasn't mostly the smaller length + one 84" board!) + I wanted to see how much variation in color there was between the boards and see/feel the matte finish. I think purchasing a box first is always a good idea - if you like it, then place your order right away (I called and asked for the same lot # so the color run would be the same as my box).
