Kitchen Flooring

My home is carpeted. Currently I have porcelain tile in the kitchen but will be changing it out with new counters and tops. Would putting in a hardwood floor look be ok? It would butt up to the carpet in two places that enter into the kitchen. And then, would a darker color floor be ok with oatmeal color carpet.

Yes, you can butt wood to carpet.

Why keep carpet if adding new flooring to new kitchen design?

is the existing kitchen tile in bad shape?

If budge allows, replace all the main floor level the same flooring.
