That is so scary looking. I would use either ultra thin marble slabs and directly apply them over the tiles. That would be easiest, but marble is generally more expensive. The less expensive version would be using sintered stones. Either tearing the tiles all down, or using a thinner sintered stone slab to install over the tiles. Here are some ideas:
