Thanks for the advice. I am not sure which square you are referring to, are you able to mark it so I can see? As for the furniture advice, both options work well with the tv, but neither work well with the wood stove. Can you see any way to set up two separate areas, one around each focal point, without it feeling too cramped or disjointed? Thanks again!

It's a stove....it's still in the space. Get over "sitting " in front of it because it will either be crowded, with too much seating, or vacuous.

Thanks for your input Jan. We might renovate the kitchen in a few years, what would you recommend to make it a better layout?

I'd reverse: ) o a future re do, and much depends your appliances and habits.....but I'd not waste a view while I'm working in there, and I might tweak the windows on back wall to do it.

Lots of ways to make gorgeous pantry storage.

for now.........I'd shift that table to more conversational when entertaining and more balanced feel overall.

and a stove doesn't really qualify as major focal.

For now, I'd put the dining table as a 4-seat round expandable in the alcove area. That leaves the major length of the space and good width to arrange tv viewing and conversation seating. It also gives you plenty of room to use the island seating with some space between that and the living area seating.

What about moving the tv down the wall towards the wood burning stove?

Or move the dining table to the tv area?

It really depends on how you are about the wood burning stove. DO you like to sit and look at it or is it really more for heat?
