Most houses, be them multiple storied or ranch, have all windows covered with glasses along different style of vents. My house has this vent shaped as window:

The exterior contractor told me that he would pressure wash to rid of loose paint of all overhang trims, fascia, soffit. He said that it's homeowner's responsibility to CLOSE ALL WINDOWS TIGHTLY. Usually rain goes straight down, so rain only splash into the vent slightly I assume. On the other hand, pressure wash is more upward and horizontal spraying.

1. This vent does not have any cover or glass, WHAT DO I DO to make sure the water doesn't go in?

2. paint brand questions:

Most popular paint brands as RETAIL alwasy popped up on google search when you google what's the most durable exterior paint brand, what's the most color fast paint brand, etc.... My question is wheather or not builders/contractors use those readily available paint brand as we home owners do, or they DO use top quality contractor's grade paint brands which are only for wholesale. Are there top qualify WHOLESALE paint brand in the market?

Because one exterior contractor estimated the painting job told me that he used Elmer (I don't know if it spells correctly). I've never heard Elmer make paint except GLUE, and he said it's a very good brand. Do I only stick to those top retail familiar brands??? or trust him??
