Yes, paint the pillars the same cream as the house. In fact I would paint all the trim and gutters the color of the siding.

really depends on the budget. The easiest and least expensive option, today, is to paint all the contrasting colors/trims, the same color as the siding color... even the front door.

All one colr for sure and no to squaring them off to make them even more off. If you have money to spend IMO get an architect to tell you how much it will cost to remove that whole darn thing it is ugly beyond words and honestly I think I would plan removal even if I had to wait to save the money

I also see a metal roof ... I would bet that this house was originally built with cement barrel roof tiles. These types of houses are being updated in my neighborhood and some have take out the round columns and done one rectangular column to simplify the look. One 30 year old faux-Mediterranean house is being torn down ... they planned so many changes that the builder finally told them it wouldn't cost that much more to tear down and get what they really want.

When you buy these 1990's FL houses you have to embrace the design or be prepared to spend a lot of money to make it look pretty. You are already going to spend money if you plan on upgrading the windows, doors, sliders to current hurricane/impact codes.
