Is "Virginia Mist" granite actually quarried in Brazil?

On a recent visit to a countertop installer, I was looking at slabs of Virginia Mist granite but they were all labeled as coming from Brazil. In addition to finding Virginia Mist pretty, I was also attracted to it because I grew up in Virginia, about an hour and half from where I THOUGHT it was quarried. I thought it would be cool to have a domestically produced, "hometown" product. in my kitchen. Have I been wrong all along? Or maybe this isn't really Virginia Mist? This is a picture of one of the slabs I was looking at -- the sun was bright and this was the polished side.

Virginia Mist is from a quarry in Culpepper VA. Maybe this is a Brazilian stone mislabeled as Virginia Mist or maybe it is Virginia Mist that they have labeled incorrectly as Brazilian origin.

I love buying stone that wasn't shipped from another part of the world. Even better if you have a personal connection to the location.

IDK but cr*p that is a GORGEOUS slab!! I'd be all over that.

Is it? It's literally the first slab I've seen (I'm very early in this process) so I don't know what's good or bad, lol. I thought it was very pretty, though.

That’s a beautiful slab!! I also thought Virginia Mist was typically quarried in VA, but stone yards can name slabs whatever they want. So something might be called VA Mist at one place, Jet Mist at another, and something completely different at a third place.

I did a bit of research on the website of one of the largest distributors in my area (it probably supplied the stoneyard I was visiting) and Kendrah, it looks like you're right:

This is "Nero Mist" AKA "Brazilian Virginia Mist:" https://www.msisurfaces.com/granite/nero-mist/

To me, the slab I saw looks different from this "Nero Mist" -- it looked more like my mental image of the domestic product, but who knows...natural variation, maybe. It does seem to show that there's a lookalike out there that comes from Brazil, so now I don't know if labels count for much.
