I was born in Manhattan, deep time geological history also was very important!

We were at the southern limit of the ice and the Manhattan bedrock created the current skyline.

In South Florida, those tall buildings would tend to wanna sink!

I already knew that the glaciers pushed all the good soil out of my area and left us with the awful Hewitt glacial till, and that I'm close enough to the 100th meridian that I get a share of the summer dryness, wind and other anti-agricultural weather factors of the Great Plains.

Now tell me the good news! haha ;-))

41, yeah, to keep a Manhattan skyscraper stable in sandy Florida, the base would have to have pilings driven down a quarter mile! The Leaning Tower of Pisa is an example of not having a sufficiently stable base.

Humans have already exploited the most fertile lands on earth. The video makes it clear why certain areas of earth are densely populated and others, almost barren. It will be interesting to see how changes in the climate, will benefit some areas and hurt others, but not as though civilizations can relocate overnight.

And let's not discard Tourism.

Many parts of our country and the world depend on people coming to see and enjoy their distinct and unique climate, topography and history.

Without tourism, many of these locations would be bankrupt.

Bill, you're right. For whatever reason, everyone wants to go to Kathmandu. That's what I'm gonna do. :)
