Legrand On-Q 30" media enclosure (Ethernet Electrical Box) location?

Dear all, thanks again for helping out.

Just wondering if the current location of Legrand On-Q 30" media enclosure (Ethernet Electrical Box) makes sense to you. Please note that somehow my contractor installed the electrical outlet way up there, but the media enclosure (which will be hosting the cable modem, router, switch, etc.) is down there. Not sure if this make sense. Any thoughts or experience installing such media enclosure for Ethernet, and if you can redesign or do it again, what would you do differently?

Please note that this media enclosure is hiding inside of a closet in a bedroom, as this location happen to be the "center" of the entire house (one-level) so it would be ideal for Wi-Fi signal to broadcast to the entire house (which is not very big, about 1450 sqft). Thanks!

We have a lot of AV/automation stuff and none of the enclosures were placed that low on the wall. Make sure you take measurements/photos before sheetrock goes up, in case you want to install some type of closet organizer. Hopefully this is a guest bedroom where the closet won't be jam-packed full of stuff!

Ours is in a dedicated walk-in media closet. I would have arranged things differently, but it was DH's project and I was managing the rest of the house build. DH let the subs place things where they thought it was best/easiest, so we ended up not maximizing the space in a good size closet.

I think the contractor placed it that low might be because this enclosure is in a cloth closet, and if it is placed at the regular height as most cloth hangers, then it might interfere with the clothes, etc. Not sure if this makes sense though. Thanks for all the feedback!

Most people use double hanging rods these days, so the lower location might still be in the way of hanging clothes. Hopefully your system will be stable and you won't have to go in there often to reset the modem and/or router!

It doesn't. Have the contractor install the basic Legrand - OnQ Duplex Power Kit or the surge-outlet Legrand - OnQ Duplex Outlet Kit (or compatible electrical box, outlet, and cover) which fits into the knockout at the bottom of the media enclosure (watch the linked video to see how it's installed).

I would also run at least one Ethernet cable from the media enclosure to an RJ-45 jack a location where you can conveniently place a laptop or other Ethernet-equipped computer. Do not assume you can always manage the router and other network equipment wirelessly.

Having had difficulties with wi-fi in my 1100 sf condo, my rule is "never assume". I'd run Ethernet cable to two ceiling locations at either end of the house (e.g., one in the living room and and another in a hallway near bedrooms) with low-voltage brackets and covers. If needed, you could then ceiling-mount POE, mesh, wireless access points (example) to improve wi-fi coverage.
