Living Room Remodel: Help Me Modernize with a Light & Airy Look!

I’m looking to update the look of this living room. I’d love suggestions on overall style directions—modern farmhouse, transitional, or something else? What do you think would work best in this space? I enjoy blended traditional + modern style. Thank you!

Show us some more pictures of the space.
I’d start with paint and removing the texture from the ceiling
Then I’d focus on furniture. I like the wood and think it can work well

The popcorn ceiling could be asbestos. So be careful about doing anything with that without having someone come in to test it. "Light and Airy Look", you may want to consider painting the wood a lighter color.
