Did you move recently and what you brought with you doesn't fit in the new place? Can you remove two of the chairs? Do you need to be able to seat four people regularly?

What does the rest of the space look like?

First thought is to remove as much as you can so that you have sufficient space. After that think of replacing what you have left with smaller sized pieces.

I need info please .IMO the light is too big for the space too. Is this the only eating space in the home ? Was this something new or brought from your old home ? IMO no way can a table actually fit there from what I can see. So better pics for sure but even better a to scale plan of that spot.

It would be really helpful to see a few more images showing what’s around the table so we can better understand the flow and limitations of the space. From this angle, it definitely looks like the current setup is too tight even though the table itself is fairly small, the chairs take up quite a bit of space.

A square table pushed against the wall with three lightweight, slimmer chairs might be a better fit. That way, you can open up more walking space and still have a functional dining spot.

Ideally, a simple layout or rough floor plan would help determine if even that would be comfortable. It’s a compact spot, so every inch really counts!

We had a situation where the client even though they had a separate dining room wanted a really small table, they wanted to have that option also, but in this case it did not disturb the flow and the walking area.

Cannot tell from just the 2 pictures posted. What is the size of the table? Do you need the 4 chairs? What are the dimensions of the kitchen in the dining space?

How many people regularly sit at that table? If it's only two, you probably want a gate-leg table. You can pull it out when you need to seat more. The extra chairs are often useful somewhere else. In the hall, for example. Then, you can move them when needed.

If the table gets much smaller you won't be able to get 4 plates on the surface of it.

The light fixture could stand to be much smaller.

It looks like there is only room for a 2 seat table and chairs.

Kinda crazy having the dining set right in front of the fridge. Do you have another place to sit at a table and eat?

The chairs and light should be smaller scale for sure. The table seems ok. If you go smaller you’ll lose a lot of functionality.

Without more information, more photos and a floor plan, it’s impossible to determine whether your best course of action is to relocate that eating area, relocate the refrigerator, replace the light/table/chairs or …?…

I hope you will update your thread as you will likely receive some great feedback to address that problem area.
