As if grandmother's hat could get better!

I wouldn't grow it instead of Grandmother's Hat, but if I could I'd grow them both. The two mixed together in a large vase would be sublime.

The introducer of this and Larry Daniels, used to grow a hedge of the three at his San Jose, CA home. It was a glorious sight in flower.

I like this a good bit more than Larry Daniels. The color is clearer.

They all look wonderful to me, but on HMF someone on the Larry Daniels comment section describes GH as having "a dull boring shade of medium pink" so I suppose it's all in the eye of the beholder. They have no idea how I have lusted after GH for years and only now have the possibility of seeing (after the one single bud opens fully) the flower, and the suspense is unreal.

Dif'runt strokes for dif'runt folks. Personally, I had L.D., did not care for it's shade of pink (quite different from that of 'Tina Marie') and love "Grandmother's Hat". Also, LD was so badly affected by virus that it never got over 2 to 2.5 ft. tall.

Magnificent is the only word I can think of although I'd be in trouble if mine ever got that large. You've said it can be kept to a much smaller size but even then I'm envisioning it covered with those large, sumptuous blooms, and I for one can't wait to have enough of them so that I can have a vase of them inside.

Keep in mind -- You'd likely never see one like this. You would normally see it as average tall shrub. You'd be hard-pressed to see one left un-pruned for 20 or so years, in an uber-mild climate.

You can also successfully train it as a climber. I had a friend in the Santa Clarita Valley who had it trained over a large, rectangular arch. The rose cooperated perfectly and flowered continuously.

Yes. It would definitely do that.

I actually have Larry Daniels that was not only tough enough to survive my winters but survived my attempts to dig him out at Rosemaggedon. Both he and Grandmother's Hat are usually tip hardy for me even when we used to be zone 5, so I would think Tina would be too.

I still prefer Grandmother's Hat of the bunch!
