Living room furniture settings

I need to arrange the furniture and tv with the best layout.
What would be the best option for a sectional and tv ?

Well, this certainly looks more functional! Now the whole family can watch tv.

  • last month

Yes a new longer cabinet for tv. Looking better.

    Any suggestions for tv cabinet?

Looking good Heaven, although nit sure you can comfortably get a long tv cabinet with sectional turned that way. I’ve hesitated to say anything, but the tv, with sectional end seat there will crowd that seat closest to tv. And entering your room from the front, it’s kind of not looking as open? I imagine the sectional is difficult to move but having it turned at the the window and pulling it away “floating” it just a bit in front of the window for your curtain and having tv on the wall where you now have the sectional may work better for you. Then the tv wall that way can be tv and longer cabinet. Is that clear as mud 😂

Measure the area to make sure how much room you got for the TV stand to make sure you don't buy too big of one or too long on one

And :), wanted to mention in the kindest way :) possible that the grommet curtain panels really could be nicer in a lighter color and not in a grommet hanging method. They look like they are 10” out from the window. A window dressing of new panels, if in the budget, could lighten up that far window wall quite a bit.

Hi Alice, I have bought the lighter color curtains already just waiting to complete everything then I will hang them.

I like your idea to move the couch in front of the window. I did that already but with that seating I only see the kitchen, no outside view.

I like the fire place cabinet for tv

  • last month

Oh ok Heaven, I was hoping not to make things more difficult for you :), was just thinking out loud. Your space is already looking so much better, you’ve really been busy in there! Excited to see the new curtains.

  • last month

If you needed more width “look” for your cabinet under the tv you could have just a basket for blankets or extra pillows on either side?

  • last month

Or two poof type to put on either side for foot rests when you need them since you mentioned a coffee table. Leaving room in the center unless you need a coffee table for drinks and such?

Thank you to all of you for your valuable feedback and suggestions. I will update this soon with new curtains.

The fireplace is not working that's why I'm thinking to change it.

Mean while this is all good but should I think to place it on the window wall and move the tv to the other side but what can I do to avoid looking at the kitchen .

  • last month

The only thing is to face couch to see wall...backside to kitchen.

  • last month

Ok before we look at that, which I am/ was voting for that is will it fit? And what do your new curtains look like and will you be able to get to the window? Do you open that window? Let’s see, where is that fireplace? It would be nice to see front of sofa coming into house bs the back at dining room? Especially if you would like to add some decorative pillows and such, I’m thinking?

  • last month

If you have sectional where it is now or at window, you see the kitchen, unless I’m misunderstanding? Much less though with the way you had it originally 💗 In your original post you did say, I think, you moved the sectional in here from the basement and could consider getting something els? Could you still entertain that idea?

  • last month

I found this image and marked it. My talents are certainly limited but wanted to share. Not sure where that fireplace is though. Bottom right of this picture if this were your layout? Even if it doesn’t work, probably nit want to have sectional in front if it. At least this could look more open? Where is your entry to the room from the front of your house?

  • last month

Kitchen would be at the bottom of this picture :).

Thank you Alice, yes it will open up the room. My kitchen is also L shaped. The dinning table is in the L of the kitchen. You can see the greyish cabinets in the dinning are the kitchen cabinets.

I' shared the sketch of the room before.

These are not windows . They are sliding doors...l

Oh ok Heaven. Thank you for explaining that to me :). Well 😆 this will come together! We stay positive! Moving forward :)

Sorry my old eyes had trouble reading that sketch :(.

That's Ok. I really appreciate the deed back from you and others. Thanks for the help.

The window / curtain rod is not that long it actually came out while moving some stuff.

Do you have any suggestions for curtains? I have the same plain one but in a lighter colour that I purchased for this room.

  • last month

Can you take a picture from above now that you have the sectional turned? For comparison to your original arrangement.

  • last month

Plain is ok, but with your gray sofa maybe a bit of a movement in the fabric with gray. I assume you need room darkening. I would not do a grommet though. Is your lighter one s grommet? And you need a wider rod? Window or slider? I personally would have the same curtains on the slider and window.

  • last month

Depends on your budget if you need four panels. Two for window and two for slider? Or show us the lighter ones and if you like them, get two more to match both openings. Searching gray patterned or linen look room darkening?

  • last month

A pic of entering room would help as well with fireplace wall and the walkway at entrance with sofa in this new placement.

Hi Alice, which windows are you taking about, the windows above the silders?

  • last month

No it didn't sound like she was talking about Windows above a slider the other windows and I wouldn't put the chair in front of the TV maybe to the other side of the room or the other side of the TV so you could see TV good

  • last month

Perhaps we need more pictures please Heaven. Seem to be going a bit in a circle here 😂

To create the best layout for a sectional sofa and TV, consider the following optimal setup principles based on room shape, comfort, and viewing angles:

    - choose the Right Wall for the TV

    - position the Sectional for Comfort & View

    - optimize Flow and Space

  • last month

If you plan to be viewing the TV from your table you want the TV to be on that wood wall or another wall along with being comfortable to view it from the sectional so let's say you pick the long wall where you currently had the TV you can view it from all angles but you'll have to decide how to position it into a L shape coming from the windows and facing the TV so then the back of the sectional will be towards your kitchen and table

  • last month

I think i know why i had the window and slider confused. I
Looked back at some of previous pics Heaven. That is the ottoman in front of the slider or the window? Your drawing wasn’t helping me any bc I could not read the folded paper.

  • last month

Late night thought :). What if you did take that corner section out and had one long with back at dining room facing tv? Could it fit like that with walkway on both sides? You could have a new longer tv console and even a separate chair turned towards the tv at the wall opposite the window wall with side table. Just thinking out loud to give you a bit more breathing room.

  • last month

Or even take corner plus one more seat out?

  • PRO
    last month

If I take the corner and one seat our it would leave only three sides. As I have only 2 end seats finished with sides. So with only 3 seats what would I do with the rest of the sectional.

Instead I have 3 seater sofa that I can bring to this room.

  • last month

You don’t need to have finished sides.

  • PRO
    last month

Then the rest is all garbage

  • last month

Yea it was just a thought 🤷‍♀️ you have a 3 seater sofa? To use instead of the sectional?

  • last month

Have you tried leaving the middle pieces where they are in the corner and attaching the 2 end pieces together to face the sofa?

  • PRO
    last month

What do you mean by that. I'm sorry I didn't understand your point. My sectional pieces are not finished on the sides.

  • last month

I think I understand, there is not gray leather down the sides?

  • last month

Like if you separate the pieces?

Sorry Heaven we don’t mean to keep you busy on that darn sectional 😂

Consider placing the sectional to face the main wall where the TV will be mounted or placed. Floating it in the room can help define the space, and adding a console or media unit below the TV keeps it balanced.
