Maybe just a floor lamp and turn the accent chair to the TV or the corner of the rug. It’s really a lovely space.

The kids usually eat dinner at the counter and we stand in the kitchen. Silly with a table there but that's what we do. I do feel like it looked like a chair showroom and toyed with getting rid of the table but was unsure what to do with that extra space. I put a picture with one of the old counter stools and the changes suggested. Would backless stools look ok? What type of floor lamp would look good here? One with a black base?

The dining chairs are a bit off to me…

Just have to say… your new kitchen is beautiful and I love that it is semi open! The space between your couch and buffet looks ideal for a big tree like plant.

Thanks for all the chair suggestions, love the Arhaus ones. And a plant would be a great idea! I took a picture replacing a couple of chairs with ones from our dining room (same chair different legs and fabric). Is this direction better?

I’m not a pro but think both spaces are lovely. Agree with others about not filling in the space between the sectional and buffet— it’s nice breathing room. I thought the wall hanging was fine. I wish I could offer suggestions for counter stools but I’m terrible at posting photos. Go with something not too heavy or too gray. Look at Serena and Lily or Ballard for ideas. You made wonderful choices with your kitchen. Enjoy!

Thank you! I really want some more colorful rugs. I want the rooms to have a little more funk to them but still blend with the kitchen. This is a bar stool I was considering. The color says natural matte so likely isn't gray. Hoping the black accent could tie in with the chandlier and the black light fixtures above the island haven't been installed yet.

I like your original chairs. The print gives some energy to the room. That said, if buying new rugs get them first before buying anything else. They may guide you to a chair decision. I gather this is a family room area and not the formal dining room. Comfy chairs at the table for group dinners, pizza night or homework etc. If want bar stools to visibly shrink and take up less room tucked under the counter, then no backs which are a bit less comfortable.

I like the newer white chairs better. Much better.
I really like the round ones.
