How do I calm Burnt Sienna Roof and Orange Brick?

What color(s) should I paint 1) shutters and front door, 2) wood trim around vinyl windows, and 3) wood trim around front door given I am not changing my cream gutters or metal siding at this time? Goal is to freshen and calm the house. Leading choices are SW Tony Taupe for shutters and then either SW Urbane Bronze or SW Porpoise for the door. Vinyl windows are a strong match to BM Hazy skies, so should that be the window trim color? Not sure what to do with door trim.

Please note brick is orange, not red. Roof is burnt sienna. Bay window is clad in cream metal siding.

Thank you for your ideas.

I guess you could begin by finding out what it would cost to LIMEWASH the brick and compare that price to replacing the asphalt shingles. Might be less expensive to replace the roof.

If you do some research, you'll learn it's possible to recolor an asphalt shingle roof.

Have you considered removing the shutters and painting the window and door trim the same cream as your metal siding and gutters.

Spend some time and money on the landscape.

I am not overly offended by the roof/brick combination. You can mix reds and oranges.

If I were replacing the roof I would probably go with something browner/less red, but the current combination would not make me rush to replace the shingles.

This is a photo from Better Homes and Gardens with a door that is a much pinker red than the brick. The cream separating the two is what makes it work.

Not saying you should get a red door - just that the more red roof isn't bad.

I like your idea of a dark door. I prefer Urban Bronze with your brick.

You need to show us the entire house, not close ups of a couple areas only for starters.

I have an orange brick house, with a dark brown roof. There are stone posts in the front with various colors of slate, so we used a Confederate Blue for the front door. It took a long time to find the right blue - orange brick is tricky.

Our windows, gutters, etc. are all white vinyl and not getting changed.

I need to see the whole house and first lose the shutters You want to calm the exterior then start by less is more . I see no metal siding and whenever you come here for help if you begin by listing what you will not do it makes it hard to help. This is one of my faves for a brick house and your brick does not say orange to me BTW. I will say IMO limewashing or painting brick can instantly devalue your home so tread carefully If you notice in this pic everything except the brick is all one color and I love the green

Thank you for suggestions thus far. This is my first ever discussion post, and I see now I should have titled it “please recommend paint colors.” All new landscaping is coming in May, so I thought I would change out the bright green accent color before that.

If you fundamentally like green, toning it down like Patricia shows would work. The green you have now is too bright. If a color looks at all intense on a chip it is going to look really intense on an exterior. Look for colors that look subdued. They will be brighter outside. I like Urbane Bronze in general, but I'm not sure it wouldn't be boring on your house. It would help to be able to see more pictures. Get a large piece of drywall to paint for sampling. The big box stores sell smaller boards for fixing wall damage. You don't have to buy a whole sheet if you don't want to. Chips are too small to tell you anything.

These are some tones (Benjamin Moore) that could work with your brick/roof.

    Whole house

Tough to see much with that picture but the trim around that "angle bay window" needs to match the balance of the window trim color and not be white. I don't think the lime wash idea will do well with the roof color and I do not mind the brick and roof combo. Brighter blue shutters and front door in combination with the improved landscaping you mentioned will go a long way.

    I don't minde the roof/brick combo either.

Tony Taupe and Confederate Blue are lovely colors.

Tony Taupe for all trim and siding, gutters/downspouts.

    Blue front door and shutters.

Paint the wrought iron black with a couple of black flower pots. Larger house numbers in front, also in black and scrolled to complement the curved iron.

I dont have software but here is a sketch.

@RedRyder please give us the paint manufacturer of your Confederate Blue. Several companies make it.

I wonder if just the front door could have black trim.

Under ceiling the eaves could probably stay white.

While you’re collecting paint samples look for SW Distance and the family of blues around it. The sage greens are pretty, but sometimes, depending on your brick, they don’t feel exactly right.

I would recommend a warm white instead of the beige/off-white that you now have for all windows and trim on the house. À coral colour would be a "pop" for the front door, cover the metal column into a painted square wood one, place large black street number on the column.

Black shutters and door with the red brick and white trim is a classic combination. Greens and blues work with the red orange brick because the contrast of complimentary colors (red/green or blue /orange) is good. i would consider a deep blue gray as picture above or a sage green for shutters and door.
