What color am I re-painting my newly purchased home?

Recently purchased this home in December and looking to spruce it up. What are some of the best color options? Should I remove shutters completely? There is another exterior door the is next to the garage door that you can't quite see in this photo as well. We will have more landscaping than what is in this photo. Currently there are tons of red tulips and yellow dandelions all across the front.

    Definitely remove the shutters.

I’d also consider extending the front porch to the length of the house.

In terms of paint colors, what do you think of navy blue?

Littlemissdena, navy blue is exactly what i was thinking but have found some threads on here that are very anti navy so thought i would get some opinions. I did also rhinking about extending the porch. We have a problem with this area because there end of the roof ends almost directly above the door so the floor there soaks. Also no place to wait if its raining, you’re getting wet regardless! Very odd not sure why an overhang wasnt built on there.

A light sage green might be another option with white trim, if it would appeal. Agree with no shutters on that style/size windows. Also consider another style front door. Keep the door by the garage the siding color.

Some examples of pale sage green.

Suddenly I'm compelled to steer this thread in the most pro navy way ever.

If the siding is vinyl, you should not go darker in Light Reflectance Value than the current color. Because dark colors absorb heat and the vinyl will warp and twist - not good.

But if it's not. these are some of the best navy paint colors.

    Congratulations!

Navy sounds great for a completely different look. With a crisp white trim.

Yes, ditch the shutters. Navy makes a great back drop for green foliage.

Add a little interest with a new light fixture, house numbers and a mailbox with a pretty potted plant next to the door ... Paint the front door a Bright color you love, a shade of bright Orange/Red.

@BeverlyFLADeziner I do like the last one you posted much better, thank you for the photo I have been searching everywhere for ideas of what to do with that porch and that simple change would make a big difference. However I really love the one with the brown stairs. What do you think that would look like on the front of the home? I like the opportunity to be able to show off porch decor a little more that way.

I'm not anti-navy but I like the colour of your house with a fresh white trim and a pop colour for your front door. Remove the shutters and enlarge the window frames and update the porch railing. Redo the porch floor and steps with either stained wood planks or composite decking material. Then as planned, work on the landscaping.

Are you replacing the roof? If not you will want to consider the roof color when selecting the house color. I am not sure that I would do Navy with that roof color. Love a Navy House with a light gray roof.

As mentioned earlier - if you are painting vinyl siding you don't want to paint it too dark and have it warp from the heat. Sherwin Williams has a palette that they call Vinyl Safe. I would choose any but the darkest of these shades.

Why paint the house at all? I know it seems like the fastest, least expensive way to boost the exterior look, but there is nothing wrong with the color. I would remove the shutters, paint the trim and spend the bulk of my money on the porch and landscape.

I like the suggestion for a light sage green with white trim. Would not paint it navy. Dark colors are going to fade over time, will make the house look smaller and will absorb more heat making it more expensive to cool. Assuming this is an older home with 2x4 framing/ less insulation than typical new construction.

Even with just one or two inches over the door, these rain canopies will fit because they are thin and the brackets are spaced on each side of the door. The channel in front directs water to the sides.

I found one on Wayfair that seems the right size for you. 3'11" bracket space. I'm not endorsing this brand...not familiar... but 4.5 stars so it should be good.
