dryability of oregano and marjoram

I have stands of oregano and marjoram that I routinely harvest, dry, and grind. I have been astonished. When I harvest oregano, and keep it at 70F on top of the fridge for a few days, it is completely dry, and ready to easily strip from the stems and grind. But when I do the same for marjoram, it takes a week or two to dry completely. This happens EVERY harvest. They are both origanum, so I'd expect them to behave similarly. Is this something that is recognized? I could put the marjoram in a food dryer, which we use every week for apples, but ...
