New Windows. What style and color?

I am in the process of installing new windows on my Cape style home. I will be using double hung and my contractor told me the casements (in the picture) will look like double hung but will still be casements. I bought the house in 2016. Not sure why the casements were used in the first place. Not a fan. I will be using two over none grids. My husband wants black exterior but that I am unsure of that. The window ac’s are gone so it will look better. Painting the house white with white trim and a new charcoal roof. Any ideas as to what to do with the casements.

Only these windows being changed? What are on the front and rear of the home? The front elevation will be more telling but I would not do black from the little we can see on your home.

No black from what you show and why not show the whole house or as asked is this the only wall getting new windows ? I would however not do white for the siding it is just going to be a big white box with no personality .

If it were my home, I would only have one type of windows through out the total home. Don't mix them.

Black windows have been used on Cape Cods for decades & I would not hesitate to select black windows.

It’s going to look amazing with the white paint and charcoal roof—very classic and clean! Since you're going for a unified look, asking the contractor to make those casements match the new double hungs in style and grid pattern is a smart move. As for the black exterior trim—it’s bold and trendy, but if you’re unsure, maybe try black sashes only (inside frame stays white) for a softer contrast.
