Yes, looks like deer damage of which I have years of dealing with. For me, the best repellent is Deer Out, available on Amazon. I just sprayed down all my roses for the second time this spring, but still have damage on a few in back in vulnerable locations. Blasted stomachs on stilts. Diane

last year my roses suffered greatly from deer damage: Carding Mill was almost eaten to the ground, Ispahan had all buds eaten and I have to wait till this spring to admire its first bloom after 2 years planting it. And many other not including roses

We eventually put on fences and they have worked so far.

Nice things about fence is you get good support for vines. This is the first time I am able to grow sweet peas, thanks to the fence!
