Emerald green arborvitaes look like they're dead/dying. Any ideas?

About 12-14 year Evergreens and sudden brown - zone 6aLike title says, these were planted about 12-14 years ago. No issues. All of sudden, I'm the space of a week or so, they start turning brown. (there are about 40, so far only these turned brown).I'm guessing theres no saving them, but any idea what might happened?It has not been dry at all, and the soil gets good drainage.They were great until this year so it's really hard to imagine why all of a sudden it would have happened I don't know where.
