I would do a solid cream color - simple to let the rest of the details shine

I'd choose a dark green woven with texture. Not as cute as the gingham

Difficult to suggest anything without seeing the entire surrounding area decor.

Generally, finding the right color/design means bringing home lots of swatches to test. If grandchildren are young, consider performance fabrics (I just place towels on their seats). Given there is a lot going on visually, suggest pulling the different finishes together by the color choices. If worried about going too light, choose a darker combination that suits your room as well and decide if you want to highlight the stencilling.

Medium or dark green vinyl. Wipes off easily, doesn't show spaghetti stains.

I might look at something in the color family as the tabletop. I do like Lyn's green color choice above, as well.

I love the ginghams that Bev posted. I also think a faux leather would be great--they come in lots of colors and textures, and as applepieorder said, easy to keep clean.

I would not do any light or solid fabric.

Think about using outdoor material - just watched a vid where designer had lovely plump sofas which were stunning and he mentioned having them covered in outdoor material for it’s durability so visitors didn’t have to worry if there were any spills!

Thanks for all your ideas! Here is a larger photo of the area. I am leaning towards taking these covers off and go back the original creamy white that is underneath. There is plenty happening in here, right?

I would not do white if 8 grandkids are going to be visiting. I did a red faux leather in my dining room, and it's great whenever guests are here. Cleans up great.

Another vote for faux leather or vinyl. Clean up can't be beat. My chairs came with a tone on tone white fabric that stood up against kids for a very few years. That's a great look however. Tone on tone stripes. A bit of design but nothing screaming at you.

Maybe a grain sack fabric from Etsy.
