Help, I think the soaking tub I bought is too big?

We are remodeling our bathroom to have glass shower and separate soaking tub. The shower is about 5 feet deep and the area from the shower to the wall where the tub will be is 78". The tub I purchased is 66.9". I think it will be very cramped feeling. Should I just get another tub and if so, what size? Thanks in advance for any help!

Can you post a floor plan for the entire bathroom with all dimensions?

cramped, and no way to get around it to clean. Rethink the soaking tub.

What tub did you order? Can you exchange it?

Is it a freestanding tub or meant to be built-in? In your space, built-in would work better. While sometimes freestanding tubs are shown tight to walls in "designer" pictures, they're not practical unless you have room to get around them.

Blessing in disguise because a built in would look so much better in your space. It will also endure long beyond the current freestanding trend. There are enough things you can do with a built in to make it feel clean and modern in your new space.

I agree on built in tub, rather than a free standing soaker tub. Get one deep enough, that you cant soak in it, if thats what you want to do. Are you sure that shower is 5 ft? It appears a bit smaller than that.

Changing out the tub means ripping up the floor to move the drain or moving the tub filler to the far wall. At this point I think you will end up installing it

If you are not going to be able to clean completely and comfortably around the tub, get another tub or hire a reputable cleaning service.

I have a similar sized tub and it was one of the smaller ones I found. I have 18" at both ends and 8" at the back at the widest point of the tub. I'm thin so I can walk all the way around the tub easily, but plenty of space to get a vacuum head and a mop around the whole tub if you couldn't walk around it. I would look for something a bit smaller. All of this should have been figured out before the old bathroom was demolished.

A free standing tub or what ? If FS no way will that fit IMO and how would you clean . Taht shower does not look to be 5' so maybe a to scale floor plan too.

I would go with one of the 59/ 60 inch tubs and use a swifter.

Thank you all for the advice! The picture makes the space look a lot smaller than it is. I cannot for the life of me find the final floor plan so I'll attach one that had a larger shower planned. The one that is almost finished is exactly 60 inches deep. The measurements from back wall where shower is to the opposite wall where the tub will be is 139". I really wished I considered a built-in tub now! It's a long story but this renovation was started by one company but being finished by another so that is why the plan seems so inconsistent or not planned as well as I would have liked.

Can you return or sell the tub you bought, and then buy one thats built in?
