Powder Room Wallpaper

I need help! What color and style of wallpaper do you envision going with this main level of my townhome? It’s very neutral, which I love, but thinking I want a pop of something in the powder room. I have been looking at wallpaper since February. Thought I had decided on Rifle peacock garden Wallpaper in black, but something is keeping me from pulling the trigger.

I have collected close to a hundred wallpaper sample over the last 3 years in the search for the perfect wallpaper for my powder room! Nothing has jumped out to me as "the one".

    Good luck with your search!

I like almost all of the Rifle patterns, but I like the Peacock pattern better in the navy or green colorway. But it looks like your kitchen cabinets are black, so I can see why you were drawn to the black version. You gave us a good idea of your style with the pictures you posted, so I think Rifle would be a good choice for you, but what does the powder room look like? Are you replacing any fixtures or just thinking about adding wallpaper?

Gold oval mirror and gold fixtures. Why I love the black color way. Added wainscoting. Floor is dark ceramic tile.

Order a sample and test the color to go with your vanity.

Go with the peacocks. Beverly’s suggestions are nice, but for a powder room, you want some zing, and the peacocks look great with your vanity. I like your idea of an oval mirror to soften the room’s angles and echo the curves in the wallpaper. Be bold! (Lovely house, btw!)

I love Beverly's suggestion. While the peacocks match well, there is an air of cuteness about them that doesn't align with the vibe of your house. I think you can have a punch of wallpaper while still feeling sophisticated.

The room itself and vanity are beautiful.

The powder room can be different from the mood in the rest of your home. Give it some interest(the peacock)!

I agree with Kandrewspa - the Rifle Peacock in navy seems to have a bit more life to it.

@Diana, you are correct. They came to install the Peacock wallpaper last month and there was an issue with some of the leaves not matching up so they had to order new runs of it. In the meantime, I’ve been second-guessing my decision again. Pics before it came down (he had only done two areas)

Don't second guess yourself. It is SO pretty and works beautifully in the powder room. And there's no disconnect with what's going on outside in the rest of the house. Be confident!!!!

You have a lovely home Becky Benton! Just to confuse you more(sorry) I would go with Kandrewspa’s idea and do the navy

@ Norwood, I like the white flowers in the black

Goes better with the wainscoting imo…

I went with my gut and chose a smaller print. Love how it looks from the hallway. It’s sweet yet elegant and I love it. I STILL love the Rifle peacock and may use it when I renovate my basement bathroom next year. It’s a paper that imo looks better with no wainscoting underneath. Needs the full wall height to showcase the vines.

It's okay, but I much prefer the Rifle peacock paper.

Totally get that hesitation — sometimes it means the pattern’s not quite right for the space. For a powder room off a neutral main level, bold wallpaper actually works great — it’s a space where you can take a risk. If the black Peacock Garden feels too heavy, try the same pattern in a lighter background or look for something with depth but a touch more softness — maybe a floral with navy, forest green, or deep teal on a cream base. Adds drama without clashing. And don’t be afraid of texture — grasscloth or linen-print wallpaper can also add richness without overwhelming.

All good — just sharing a thought in case it helps someone else later. A lot of people search these threads when deciding on finishes.

I’ve had the peacock paper in a box under my bed . Been waiting for an installer for a year . Cant find a hanger in Knoxville tn . Going to fly in my hanger from CA.

Thanks, @Alex! I appreciate you taking the time to post. Let me know your thoughts on the paper I hung.

@ Diane that is crazy! Have you checked for a hanger in Chattanooga (my hometown)? Or Atlanta? Flying someone from California would not be cheap.😔

Part II - ART! What to hang on the wallpaper now that it’s up.? Also, any tips for not having to put nails in the paper? Attached are pics of stuff I already own. Would love something new though. Thanks!
