Back Porch HELP!

last month

Your tips for my front porch were so helpful, hopefully you can work your magic on my back porch. I need to incorporate some kind of cabinet for storage. We have a pool and need somewhere to store our robot pool vacuum, as well as charcoal and grill accessories. You can see only a small area is covered. We have a covered porch with an outdoor couch and 2 chairs. We enjoy eating outside but I feel like the table we have is big and crowds the area. The concrete has always look bad to me but, since the area is exposed to the weather, a rug won’t work, right? I want the area to feel cozy and inviting. Ideas?

You can have an outdoor rug (made of plastic) on an uncovered patio.

You didn't give the size of the patio but it certainly looks large enough for the table and chairs (turn your table clockwise so the 1 chair doesn't back onto the backyard). An outdoor storage cupboard can be placed in the corner under the roof.

An enclosed storage bench would work along wall with no windows. Teak or wicker “look” would add some texture or dimension and would be additional seating for guests.

    Patio dimensions?

You can power wash the concrete to see if that improves the appearance.

How many people does the table need to seat? If 4+, I would not go smaller than your current table (but do turn it as suggested). Or check dimensions on a rectangular table to see if that works better.

No suggestions for a cabinet but I am looking for the same for my gardening equipment.

Do you have patio lighting and speakers for music? Maybe a new umbrella covering in red that goes with the red coca-cola side table. Add some potted flowers, shrubs and/or small trees in black pots that pick up on the red too.

When it comes to a rug, there are sooo many outdoor rugs to choose from, all sizes , all colours. Wayfair, Home Depot, just to name a few sellers.

I like the idea of the bench for storage our robot vacuum needs to charged so you will need to have some electrical to do that so make sure you account for that when doing the bench IMO the rocking chairs are an odd choice for seating in that space and your table could be much larger IMO and rectangular too. There are as mentioned many plastic rugs for exposed decks that are just hosed off when dirty I have one on my deck had it now for 5 yrs no problem all exposed

Vertical storage. there are many ready made units available for outdoors.

Measure the space(s) flanking the windows so the unit(s) are out of the way of seating.

Where is the grill, etc? on a separate patio? I would put the table and dining chairs near the grill, the rockers in a separate conversation setting. Yes, an outdoor area rug to fill the space would feel welcoming.

You might try adding an outdoor rug, some large potted plants, and then look at getting some storage to add to the blank wall behind the umbrella. It doesn't feel like the table is too big. Here are a few ideas for you from some of the designs we have completed for our clients. Please notice the accent colors used in the cushions, pillows, rugs, and plants.
