What does the table look like? Maybe you are changing out the wrong item.

I think chairs can be mixed and matched successfully in a room, but you have maybe the two styles of chairs that cannot bridge the design gap.

Really you have 2 of the wood ones and then some folding ones ???? I need a bit more info. Let's see your table you have . IMO those are pretty far apart in many ways .

How many chairs total? What size table? Can you show a pic of the room?

Hold off on painting black. Making everything the same color is not enough to jmify and these much be better just letting them be quite different chairs at the same table.

I have 4 of the wooden ones and 2 of the folding ones. The folding ones are not always in use, except when we have visits. The table I have is a bamboo wood rectangular one that sits four people, similar to the ones below. I live in a small apartment and I don't have a lot of furniture.

I posted a table similar to the one I have in the comment above. It's a p cheap table but it's functional.

It's OK to have folding chairs that don't "match" when you have guests over.

This is assuming that your guests are not rude people who point out that they didn't match, rather than embracing your hospitality.

If the folding chairs are uncomfortable, then you and your SO would sit in those chairs, rather than guests.

6 chairs total. 2 are not always in use. My table is rectangular and sits 4 people comfortably. My apartment is a rental and it's tiny. The dining and the living are open. It does not have recognizable decor or style, I guess it's "modern". I am still getting furniture. The only other furniture I am keeping is a galvanized clothes rack.

I wanted to paint it black because I like the black weathered look! But I guess I could leave the chairs as they are.

I suggest your paint the wood chairs in black and find a nice wood table that suits your space, either round, square, rectangular...

For me this is easy paint the wood ones put the folding ones away and get a table that looks good and expands in a style that suits the wood chairs . No need to have all the chairs out unless you have guests,
