Simple Pathway ideas

Hi, I have this sloping area at the side of my house which is all grass. It runs from the gate all the way around to the back. My new business is going to require clients to come in this entrance so I’m looking for simple paving/path ideas. Nothing too fancy (for now) but other than boring pavers, I am stumped.

To make the path wide enought to be inviting and "professional" looking, you'll want to remove the grass and plant low groundcovers, whatever would be appropriate for your location, sun/shade exposure and zone.

Safety is more important than aesthetics since you're dealing with the public, so even pavers or poured cement with proper drainage are the way to go. Make sure you have motion lights to light the path for clients who have late appointments.

Nothing wrong with even pavers but do add garden bed of creeping shrubs or perrenials on the side.

I made mosaic stepping stones for mine out of cinder block.

"Boring Pavers"; safety and ease for walking should be your focus and that may well equal boring. Nothing more boring than cement but it's the material most used when talking about public access. Professional is often boring. I'm not seeing the issue with a border of grass as long as it's kept mowed/trimmed. The hedge at the edge of the house will encroach in the walkway as the corner is turned. You might think about removing a few feet of it. How much time money do you want to put into this walkway? The possibilities are many depending on budget, skill of person doing the work etc.

For a business, a wide solid-surface concrete path with good lighting like the ones in housegal200’s post makes the most sense for safety and accessibility.

And you'd need to check regulations on accessibility.

Am assuming the path will need to meet some sort of building code. Would start researching there to see what will be required. Also, ask your local building official.

I agree with housegal a nice paver walkway if there is room some nice plants to make it look professional and really safety first . How steep is the slope to start ?The shrubs at the end on the right are going to impede on the walkway too. Get a good contractor who understand sthe codes where you are and also what kind of business IMO the entry should reflect that too. Are there issues where accessibility will come into play. Too much missing info to really help Ther eis nothing boring about this idea

@enajasereht those are beautiful stepping stones! Nicely done.

Beautiful but impractical if any clients need wheeled access, use sticks or have low vision. If this is a business it needs to be safe and accessible for everyone, not just the nimble.

Boring pavers look better when lined with something, like brick. You can get bluestone in different sizes and they have natural variation
