What are the “rules” for staining the exterior of my Victorian home?

The house will be stained Benjamin Moore Caldwell green. The current trim color is BM Navajo. What are the rules for ledger board, porch floors, railings and steps, front door, door frame, window frame and decorative siding combinations under gables and garage doors?
Possible colors for trim are BM Swiss coffee, Maritime , and any suggestion.Lintel molding color?
Possible accent colors Burgundy, purple, and navy.
I also need suggestions for front porch decking and step colors..

Your house appears to have been painted, not stained. If thats the case, you would need to repaint it, not stain it. I see samples painted on one part of it, and that could be a problem covering, if it is indeed stain.

BM suggests Siver Satin & Stonington Gray OR Coastal Fog & Barley Harvest to complement Caldwell Green. Also I would change the orange steps

If you browse to the Caldwell Green webpage, hover over Coastal Fog and click on 'Change Color', the Muskoka Trail color appears which is similar to the trim color on the first, third, and fourth photos above.

Our house is cedar sided and it is solid stained water based. The samples painted on the house are a paint version.

Please find some poster board and put your samples on that. Never over stained cedar.

Valspar One-Coat Solid Stain & Sealer earned a recommended rating from CR. Per easyrgb.com, Valspar 342-5 Thicket is similar in color to Caldwell Green. You could have the Valspar stain custom mixed for Thicket at Lowes. (The Lowes paint system may also have the Caldwell Green color formula.)
