Design help for walk in robe in Master

last modified: 19 days ago

Hello, I need some help creating a walk in robe in Bed 1 - master bed. I’m thinking of extending the current ensuite into the wir and add a bath + another basin. The current retreat I’m looking to convert into a wir. I’m concerned about walking straight into a wir before the master and also the door leads directly into the living area. Any ideas on how I can make it work? Tia

wir is a walk in robe. Maybe also referred to as walk in closet.

    thanks

Probably 'robe' = closet; 'wir' = walk-in robe (closet)

Got it--never heard those terms before.

Is this a purchased plan or did someone draft it for you?

Think about squaring off that entire bed/bath/wir/retreat area to get you what you want.

Also, I'm wondering about the other bedrooms. #5 is all windows--where will you place furniture? #4 has one small window. Why? To maximize light and air, all rooms should have at least 2 windows on 2 different walls. And that bump-out in #4 is kind of unnecessary.

I would say that the entire floor plan has a lot of drawbacks, so maybe redesign it or find something better suited to your needs.

Thanks Diana. I appreciate your feedback.

I suppose I could square off the whole area. What’s coming to mind is the door will prob now open into the master - straight from the living. I could locate the bed in the wir/ens area but I’ll need a window as I think the wir and ens will be located along the walls with the windows- thus blocking the light.

This is a sketch of a house already built. I don’t have the original builders plans yet. We are in Australia so light is not an issue - at least where I stay. We have windows on 1 wall most rooms, if the windows are larger the rooms will be filled with light.

For those of us living in the USA, your floor plan is odd. I have seen other Australian floor plans and they also seemed odd! You guys arrange the rooms very differently from the way we would do it here.

I live in a hot/sunny climate too, and I would hate the way your plan blocks sight lines to the outside.

Your garage driveway is also way too tight to access your left garage door, unless you are driving a tiny Smart car.

    How big is the lot/property?

Is there a reason your alfresco/patio is mostly closed in? Don't you want air circulation and views to the garden/backyard?

You might be better off going to the Houzz Australia forum, where they will be more familiar with your local design aesthetics.
