It's likely due to all the energy efficient glass produced for windows.

you can alter the surface color of the things reflected. reduce what is reflected in the window.

To brighten up the kitchen window area, you can brighten up the paint on the soffit (exterior overhead on the outside of the window)

I especially like the lower window, sitting on the countertop.

@Lyn Nielson thank you! its actually white but i think could be repainted as its getting duller. I like the window sitting in the counter too. They are going to add a piece of counter on the sill

You were likely supplied with a window with a coating engineered for sun exposure in your Arizona location. That reflect the sun and reduces the level of light. The northern house side makes that unnecessary.
