Dear all, we are doing a complete gut-it-all remodel project (house is in San Francisco) and somehow our current exterior painter left this newly installed(?) cast iron or ABS (black plastic) pipe, that seems to be plumbing vent, unpainted.

To improve curb appeal, should we (and can we) paint it?

If the answer is yes we can paint it, can we just use regular exterior paint (e.g., sherwin williams exterior paint primer, then their "Duration" line of exterior paint to paint the pipe? If it's cast iron, should we use a rust-inhibiting metal primer to paint it first, then paint it with the exterior-grade acrylic latex paint such as the sherwin williams "Duration" exterior paint? Thoughts?
