Most micro fibers are performance fabrics, where are you purchasing your furniture?

Ask them abouth their performance fabrics.

Look at sofas, chairs, etc. made with sunbrella fabrics

For family use, look for the words:

Performance, Indoor/Outdoor, Sunbrella, Crypton, Fibreguard.

These days you can find these fabrics in all colors and/or patterns.

You also want to know the "Abrasion" rating ... which is usually stated as Wyzenbeek Double Rubs.

The fabric I just picked for my new sofas is rated at 100,000 Wyzenbeek Double Rubs. I wouldn't want a number much lower than that for family furniture.

You also want fabric that is cleanable with "water".

Some sofas/chairs have removable covers. Ikea has examples. Plus replacement covers always available. Uppland has pocketed springs in the seat cushions. They retain shape better than wrapped foam. Poly foam deteriorates on a straight downward line over its 10-year life. Latex foam doesn't.

A little tip on that 100K rating. Most fabrics at that level are designed for commercial use where durability is more critical than comfort. Be sure to give it the skin test. Take the swatch and hold it to your cheek and see if its scratchy or stiff. Many of my customers were suprised by the tactile feel of high rub rating fabrics. Seek a balance of style / comfort / durabilty. Or, if you really want to go all in select genuine leather, which is 4x more durable than any fabric.

IMO can't beat good quality leather for main seating I have always had leather it stands up better than any fabric even wine .
