Nothing. The trend of decorating the top of kitchen cabinets ended quite awhile ago. Some people come up with ways to close the gap between the top of the cabinets and the ceiling.

Nothing. It's not an area that needs decor or highlighting with items.

Nothing. Tchotchkes on top of cabinets always look cheesy. And, they accentuate the fact that your cabs don’t go to the ceiling.

If you did something you might try on what you think it might look like enclosed. Ours was enclosed 20 something year's ago when putting stuff on top of your cupboards was in. We tore it out thinking we gained space. But, unfortunately we didn't save the matching wood that drew your eye to the ceiling. Now we're looking at new cupboards all together. Ohhh well. We needed an update but not the cost.

Items on top of cabinets collect a lot of grease and dust. Not a smart idea.

Do you get a lot of storage out of the cabinets between the windows? If you can reorganize and eliminate those uppers, I think it would help your kitchen a lot. It wouldn't make sense to add a soffit to them because the windows are taller than the cabinets. If you remove them it opens up the whole width of that counter area. Plus, you only are left with the corner cabinets that have an empty space above, and it won't look so bad. And, lastly, they were clearly an after thought and don't even fit the space.

    Your wood counters are beautiful.

I’m usually in the nothing camp for above cabinet decor. IDK, in your case I could maybe see one or two baskets on top of the cabinets over the stove. Similar to this but with just the rectangular basket (or two depending on their size) and nothing else.

things like that should be something reflecting your taste...something gifted..or vintage or from a trip . put an object maybe 2….just because there is discouragement for loading up the tops does not mean you cant find the right thing for that key spot. I dont blame you . what I would do something about is the wall space on the left before the window...can you mount a small clock or small picture there?

something shapely or has a characteristic or meaning to you for the top.. place a clock on the blank wall to the right of window...[or small picture]

    Another vote for "Nothing".

How about a second row of cabinets?

    Plants!

Another vote for nothing, and a small trick: Line the tops of your cabinets with parchment paper or wax paper to catch the dust and grease. Replace a couple times per year. Wish I had known that 20 years ago!

It's a good place for decorative plates.

Nothing. When you’re ready to repaint the kitchen, a color that is different from the cabinets will add some interest up there.

Any items placed there will be difficult to keep clean.

Notice that the pictures that look the best that have items above the cabinets, the walls are painted the same color as the cabinets and the cabinets are rather shallow. I don't think you are going to acheive the same look here.

Just chiming in with another vote for Nothing and another vote for removing the cabinets between the windows (though you didn't ask about that).

Something about that kitchen already reads real busy, so it is a no for anything on top of cabinets .

Good point as they definitely look "off" based on the sizing and the location is awkward at best.
